There are some scratches on the Wheelnuts - which of course is unavoidable. The bike is a really lovely ride and I regret having to selling it but times change! I just moved but all boxes went to the recyclers....we got 90% of them from the back of halfords though, if thats any help.

  • Anyone got a cheap and cheerful 16/17'' MTB frame, with braze ons for cantis/v brakes?

Condition/quality unimportant - for a beater SS project.

Did you get them from halfords maypole? We struck gold but I think it was the KFC that provided us with all the chip boxes. Damned supermarkets with their zero waste policies...

    I have this:

    http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=162343

Its older style geometry so fits just like a 16-17", its *very light *and feels efficient as a road commuter unlike more modern frames which have geo optimised for suspension forks.

The damage looks worse than it is.

  • Barge Pole. Damage is right by the heat affected zone where the rear triangle is welded to the seat tube..fail in the making. Shame really..

Another person on retrobike said they had a frame just like it (same damage) and they rode it for years with no problems. In any case its surely a good buy for £25

    Imagine it split up:

    Tioga-marin headset £5
    Forks £10
    Frame £10
    Bottom Bracket: £5
    Chainset: £7
    Seatpost: £4
    Brakes: £8
    Cables: £8
    Rear Mech: £3

Even at jumble sale prices it still adds up to a fair bit more than £25

  • The frame is scrap.make cash on the bits..talking to someone who works with metal for a living..i would not ride it..

  • ^ As tempting as that is for £25 part of me is screaming deathtrap - However, i might be interested in some of the parts, will get back to you.

Do you still have the seatclamp that will make it rideable?

I cant remember if I used it on another bike or not. I took it off so it would seem so, but it might be inside my box of parts. Will dig it all out if you are genuinely interested.

Its also hardly a deathtrap for commuting. If it were to fail (which I really think it wont) the frame would not collapse from under you.
