There are far better people around here to answer this -
The rear was designed to have an old style cassette to screw on. It does not have provison for a lock ring, so it makes it dodgy stopping if it is a fixed.
However a screw on single speed freewheel should be no problem, it normally has a 5/6/7 speed freewheel on it any way
