Air Ambulance was in attendance when I went through (about 0830). Couldn't see any casualties - only found out it was a cyclist via twitter. Fingers crossed they're ok.

Airbulance just arrived back home in Whitechapel about 10 mins ago, hoping they were able to help...

Just hearing that the rider was overtaking the bus and a car squeezed the rider against the bus. Rider ended up under the bus. The car didn't stop.
Hope this rider is okay.

if that's true I hope there are witnesses and they can find the driver. how awful. heal up rider.

Sounds terrible, hope the rider makes a full recovery and the driver is apprehended.

Saw this today around 8:20, lots and lots of ambulances and as mentioned the Virgin Air Ambulance was also in attendance. The road was closed so I cut through the common and didn't get too close.
Report now here: http://www.streathamguardian.co.uk/news/9197864.Cyclist_in_hospital_after_collision_in_Clapham/
"A police spokesman said her injuries were not being treated as life-threatening or life-changing."
As has been said, heal up soon.

Good to hear she's (hopefully) going to be ok. From the level of emergency service response I was very worried
-
• #9
Phew - glad it wasn't too bad although suspect to the poor rider, it still feels pretty awful. Hope she makes a full recovery and isn't laid up for too long.

Good to hear the "not life threatening" tag but it still sounds nasty. Did it happen on the on the bit where the cycling superhighway sort of disappears around the bus stop after Cavendish rd?
-

Good news that injuries are not "life threatening or life changing".
I have passed this info onto my friend who was on the scene (riding directly behind the injured party) and gave a statement to the police.

Agreed Charlie, horrible for the person involved, but I think there is some relief from those like myself that saw a helicopter, a couple of paramedic cars, an ambulance, the police and all the road closures that this wasn't much, much worse.
Yes, looked like directly after the Cavendish Road junction, where the markings disappear and the road bends slightly, creating a bit of a funnel.

The accident happened in the direction to Clapham Common by the common, opposite Lynette avenue. There are only CSH markings on that stretch.

Not sure why the press have reported a woman in her late 30s. I'm 32 and male. I was riding to work on Tuesday morning, through the crappy bit of CS7 at Clapham South left hand lane blocked by some open topped bus checked behind to make sure it was clear and pulled out to over take. Next thing I can remember was seeing the underneath of the bus and wondering what the hell was going on. A passing doctor (I know this because she phoned my wife to let her know what was going on) and a bloke who I think was a cyclist talked at me. Apparently I asked someone to ring my wife (understandable) and work to let them know I'd be late in (I never knew I gave that much of a crap about work). And then it all goes fuzzy again. Have brief images of an ambulance ride with the HEMS guys and ambulance crew and speed bumps and arriving at Kings but nothing concrete until about 11:00am - think I'd had a CT scan and an xray by then and they'd decided I wasn't likely to die anytime soon.
Somehow I've managed to avoid breaking any bones just severe bruising and some lovely road rash. Frankly I think I'm the luckiest cyclist around if I can manage all that without either killing myself or breaking myself into little bits. The bruising hurts but could have been far far worse.
Haven't seen my bike since - no idea what condition it wound up in or where the hell it is - suspect its a very very broken bike now. Think the Police have it but not sure as they are being incredibly unhelpful. Have most of the rest of my kit (missing a glove bizarrely) and the helmet appears to have saved me from some pretty horrific head injuries (looks like paint transfer from the bus on the front).
Jackal, could you pass my contact details onto your friend (eldotheminty at btinternet dotty com) as I'm not allowed to send PMs on this forum as a new user. Still have no clear picture of what happened from the police and would like an eyewitness to let me know what the hell happened.
Massive thanks to London Ambulance staff, Air Ambulance guys and the passersby who stopped to help me.

Eldo - glad to hear you're in good shape all things considered.

Nice to hear you're just about in one piece. Heal well and fast!
I must confess to mistaking the gender of a person who'd collapsed in the street on the day I passed my Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
They were just as bad though. The letter advisingme I had passed started:
Dear Sir.... -

Nice to hear that you are ok
heal up soon :) -

Eldo - good to hear you are well. Will pass your details over tomorrow,

Eldo - glad to hear you're healing up well and it wasn't more serious. Hope you get the bastard.

I am so so glad to read that you are ok Eldo! I rode past there this morning and thought of you. And the evening of your accident I saw a cyclist looking back where your accident happened as we were waiting at the lights by Cavendish Road and he mentioned that he had seen an accident. A lot of cyclists go that way so you most definitely were in a lot of people's minds on Tuesday.

Eldo, glad to hear you're on the mend.
Sounds absolutely horrific, and scandalous that the police aren't being more helpful.

Recover soon
You made it here too

hah.
Heal up Eldo - it sounds like you'll be sore for a while.

Hey Eldo, what a tale to tell your grandkids someday, eh?! So glad to hear you're going to be OK!
I'm too new to start a new thread, either, so will use this space to ask you and other readers to please help with a campaign to fix an intersection just down Cavendish Road where another cyclist wasn't so lucky last month.

We saw a rider under the front of a Big Bus Company bus (sightseeing tour) just after 8am I think. It was on the A24 going towards Clapham Common close to Cavendish Road. We heard the air ambulance shortly afterwards.
I will be thinking of you rider. Take care.
