  • Can you two just get a room where you talk about bikes and equipment and headset spacers and punctures and edscoblespictures and cumbria and manlove?

    Thanks x

  • If I can get my Garmin to work, I can able to download the route map on mine.

  • I'm in. Not sure how much i'll manage, but the bail-out options look friendly enough.

  • ^Ha.

    A quick recap:

Bring FOOD and LIGHTS. Meet London Bridge NO LATER THAN 5:15 - we'll need to buy tickets, hopefully we can get a groupsave together. Meet at the ticket hall by the bus station. We'll probably head to the station beyond Dartford (Stone Crossing) as it makes the journey to the start a bit easier and we'll avoid retracing our steps that way.

It might be a good idea to bring some waterproofs too. If not for rain then for bedwetting.

I'm begging for an asskicking. I haven't done any proper miles since the DD so I'll be doing this geared.

  • How long do you think the ride will be?

  • 150-160mi give or take.

    Grumpy and jealous. x

  • Im going to have to drop out of this one unfortunately. There's a chance that at 5am I will still be steamboating from the night before(going to a polish housewarming party). A bit annoying, this is the 4th ride in a row I will have dropped out of

Have a good one though guys!

  • Dear cybernauts, I look forward to orbiting with you in London's outer space!
It's going to be a challenge to rise at the other-worldly time of 4.40am for the London Bridge meet up but apart from Garmin route planning, I'm just about ready.

@ Branwen and Plastic Pedals; shame the very early start has ruled this out for you. Really not sure if we'll manage the complete circumnavigation, but it has to be an early start to be in with a chance. Maybe join us later from Uxbridge early afternoon?

Please let me know if anyone's had success translating Ollie's route to Garmin- BikeRoutetoaster has me in tears. As unappealing as I find Garmins, it would be nice to know that a GPS device were available to see riders round, even if Ollie or myself had to bail.

Good weather forecast means I might pack food in place of rain jacket.

  • Oh and brilliant work on the launch scheduling and route planning on your screen at Mission Control, Spybot. Countdown to Orbiter blast-off...

  • Yeah.might be able to make uxbridge in the afternoon, pm me your number. What time do you think you'll be there?

  • Spybot.... Stone Crossing is defo the better bet than Dartford Station....

Dropout ... managed to get the RideWithGPS route on the first post onto my Garmin 800 and it's looking good hopefully the Battery and Backup will last...

See you all in the 'morrow.

  • you lot better be getting to bed... have fun and don't forget a spot of sunscreen if it's going to be as sunny as today, I'm a bit red-faced after a nice afternoon in the lea valley. and since everyone is sounding a little self-doubting, good luck should you require it.

  • Have the route on the 800 too Cosmonaut Dropout. You sure 4.40 is early enough for you to be at station for 5.15?

Looking forward to rolling with y'all.

My ankle is twinging a bit which is making me even more nervous but only one way to try it out!

Off to bed now. See you bright and early.

  • I should be asleep.

  • So should I, but I can't sleep, bugger.

  • I am awake to wish you all good luck before your departure! Or my sleeping patterns are completely fucked. Anyway, good luck; I wish I could come.

  • Mr Ed, what happened?

  • Sorry for fail--I couldn't get to sleep, and when I did it would have meant doing it on about one hour of sleep. :(

  • I didn't roll either. Unfortunately there was a little bit of an emergency with a friend which I couldn't possibly have put second to a ride. Really sad to have missed it but thats life.

I couldn't sleep either last night! I was too excited! Anybody up for doing this next weekend with me? I'll navigate...

In other news, the chaps are just lunching in Chorleywood with 90 miles down. The worst of the hills are behind them and they report back that they are feeling good. I've promised them all a pint in the Roebuck for their return so no doubt they'll keep the pedals turning, the tight bastards.

  • @ Branwen and Plastic Pedals; shame the very early start has ruled this out for you. Really not sure if we'll manage the complete circumnavigation, but it has to be an early start to be in with a chance. Maybe join us later from Uxbridge early afternoon?

Hope the ride wen't well, not too wet? It wasn't so the early start per-say, but the fact that my main bike was in parts, wheel partially built, I'd biked 30 odd miles on Friday, and didn't get back to london until about 11:30pm, no food or anything. And noticed that I'd lost some crank bolts on my fixed. Really not in any state for riding 160 miles :(
