How about 3/4 undershorts?
I am not allowed to be seen outdoors in Lycra so loose shorts (the rapha ones) and some padded thingie underneath is my ideal combo.
A long padded baselayer type thing or a padded 3/4 in a super breathable fabric could work very well now that weather is getting nippy again, but seems there is a gap in the market?
This Polaris Trident 3 Quartz was the closest I could find, a 3/4 short in "summer weight" fabric. But not really marketed as undershorts per se.
