Wanted: Medium-ish steel Frame

Posted on
  • Hi all,

Well i have well and truely given up on the Elswick, the seatpost is not budging...

I need a new frame for my project, vintage steel road frame (track or semi-horizontal drop-outs)

Anything considered, as far as sizing goes, I need about a 22" seat-tube and about a 22/23" toptube.

Oh and a 160mm (or there abouts) headtube would be nice (so i can still use the forks i have!)

Anyway, if there's anything on offer, give me a shout!

    Cheers

    Euan

  • Contact Aladdins Cave (forum name) to get the seat tube out... may save you a few quid on a new frame... cheers c_c

  • The thing is, I'm in Glasgow :/

And this thing is seriously buggered! I really can't see anyone getting it out, well without some sort of milling machine?

  • contact him... send pics and he'll let you know if it's possible or not... bicycle magician of Britain!

  • Haha, i've sent him a PM, cheers man :)

  • It's possible to saw out seat posts using hack saw blades. I've done it on two projects, the alu of the seat post cuts easily so you don't really risk damaging the tough steel of the frame. It just takes a lot of work.

otherwise would my frame be of any use? http://www.lfgss.com/thread70694.html price is flexible

  • I've tried everything on this post, it's seriously cold welded itself... Even the old hacksaw trick isn't working, the alu is extremely thick (like 4mm+) and i just keep snapping all my hacksaw blades!

Your frame looks good man, how flexible is the price? I'd probably have to get it powdercoated as the paint looks a bit tired. Also is that frame and forks, or are they just pictured together?

  • oh and would you post? I'm in Glasgow you see!
