  • I actually put this up on ebay last night, but then realised that it may be of interest to someone on here. So, please accept my apologies for this also being on ebay - I know it breaks the rules, but it's not a bike so hopefully it will be OK.

    Here's the deets:

    G-Plan Desk/Dressing Table 1977 (Excellent condition)

I used it as a desk, but it was originally intended to be used as a dressing table. I've looked after this very well, as you can see from the pictures. I've treated it with Danish Oil to give it an even sheen. The condition is very good indeed, the label on the back dates it to 1977.

It's in Stoke Newington ready for collection.

    SOLD

    Here are some lovely pics:

Ooops. Silly me. Paid £250, which is what it's on ebay for. Will take £220 hard cashes.

    ... bollocks.

    .

  • that's shit

I really can't believe that this 70s stuff is somehow worth the money that is being asked for it.
It was shit furniture then, and it still is.

    and it's on ebay

  • and it's on ebay

I did say that in the original post - if the moderators wish me to remove it then that's fair enough. My point was that someone on here may be interested and at a cheaper price than on ebay.

  • My stack of logs, next to the fire, is tall enough already thank-you.

  • i like this stuff, compare how well this is put together with a similar unit from (say) Habitat, and then compare the price.

  • matches my wardrobe perfectly...

  • Thanks for the valuable contribution Fruitbat.

Just bear in mind that there are an awful lot of people in the world who would look at an original Moser in full campag record and say it's just an old bike.

  • ^^^actually Habitat at the moment is full of 50% furniture and bed stuffs.

  • My stack of logs, next to the fire, is tall enough already thank-you.

Is it really worth being a dick?

I'm dead into G-Plan stuff atm, not my place but some nice examples...

This stuff is incomparably better made than most of today's dept store furniture. And will be worth more in future.

Oops, fair point. (as much as I'd like it to be full Record, it's not)

  • I had one a bit like that, turned it into a 'fine art' installation.

Incorrect. The construction of G-Plan, Ercol and the like is generally excellent. Quality teak or rosewood in most cases. Yes they brought a new era of saving through clever construction but this is a world away from the mass produced factory furniture of today. I have plenty of furniture of this type and it's tough as nails despite being 50 years old (most of my stuff is 60's although I do have some 70's)

Of course there were plenty of cheap knock-offs which you may have experienced but the real deal was quite expensive for their day. It was an investment purchase. Let's see how much modern furniture survives as long as the stuff from that era.

George wilson bench being used as a coffee table - goes straight into furniture anti ;) . Seriously, I would have the bench over the eames anyday.

  • ^ that's nice my year as well..1977!

(hmm if u guys had seen our family homes in the 80's in denmark..
.i recall memories of those times, they are treasured for sure
any other danes onboard? moomin watching youth?)

  • I like G-plan furniture, these particular drawers look a bit angry though. Good luck with the sale as this is a good price.

excuse me? i don't mean to piss on the fire but** shhhh!**

  • i would absolutely love a george nelson bench, never been a fan of eames loungers though - agreed - g-plan/ercol/nathan stuff is beautiful quality furniture, i'm not a fan of the g-plan look (too much detailing) but the quality is better than anything you'll find on the highstreet and will last another 40 years no sweat

  • Im with Fruitbat on this... That is UGLY.
