• One things been bugging me about the (otherwise enjoyable) ride. I was 'told off' by a couple of people for riding too far out in the lane. While I understand that being at the back with an impatient driver may be irrititating that urge to quickly move out the way to try and let them overtake seems more risky to me.

A short and fat group of riders can be passed with less risk to the riders than a long strung out group (Where the driver needs to keep cutting back into the group when they face an oncoming driver). Perhaps I should have stayed back more and rode wide as I don't care too much if the driver is impatient, rather than let others less happy with that role do it.

Also what is the reason for the shout 'car back'. Is that meant to get us all to move further left to let drivers squeeze past? The highway code gives prioriuty to the vehicle in front so as far as I understand, there is no onus on 30 people on bikes to put themselves in a riskier place (in the gutter with no escape room to the left) just because a couple of people are driving behind and have to driver a little slower for a while.Unless they're driving an emergency vehicles they can wait till they can pass giving us at least a meter plus.

I apologise if this topic has been debated to death elsewhere and I should have utfs but its been bugging me tonight. Hope to be able to sleep now.
