    It's a self-deceiving pat on the back exercise for the bewildered.

    It's also one of the most profitable shows for the BBC as it is hugely popular world wide and they make ££ from foreign rights.

    That was a main point in the article, the BBC being forced to concede a lot of ground to top gear due to commercial demands.

    If the cars continue to last <7 years and cost 2x a petrol version then you are going to have to be a seriously wealthy environmentalist to waste money like that.

    In which case perhaps there wasn't any need for such a pantomime?

    Driving the electric round a roundabout to run the battery down is reminiscent of the faked story that muslims want xmas renamed "winterval".

    Their willful ignorance is astounding
