It's an entertainment show.
Anyone who bases their automotive choice on Clarkson's recommendation was never going to opt electric in the first place.
It's also one of the most profitable shows for the BBC as it is hugely popular world wide and they make ££ from foreign rights.
Finally, I am not sure any show could tarnish the FUTURE of the electric car industry - that's pretty much up to the electric car manufacturers to determine.
If the cars continue to last <7 years and cost 2x a petrol version then you are going to have to be a seriously wealthy environmentalist to waste money like that.
