there was a really oldschool road racer guys shop empty in a local town for years, he died with no next of kin, will and owned the building outright, the building got sold but the shop just sat there. Was packed with all sorts in the shop and the rooms behind (and probably basement/wine cellar) till about 2007 or so. recently tracked someone down who knew something about it, mostly went in a skip and to the scrap merchant. O_o
Similar thing happened with a camera shop in same town, old guy had a massive collection, died, shop got skipped by the asian landlord, a few people who were in right place/right time managed to get boxfulls of camera porn out of the skips before they were padlocked (padlocked because people had reported teh looting), everything else (including hundreds of collectors items, £100k+) went to the tip.

Same happened to tubesets and frame building materials when Witcombs got emptied, allegedly...
