Ah balls. I would have looked a right pillock, standing in my devil's outfit on the wrong side of the park. Think I'll take 2phat's advice and hang around Richmond Hill with refreshments from the Roebuck. Maybe some sausage and beer at Stein's too nomnomnom

If you're hoping to catch the cycling road race test event live on TV this weekend, you're out of luck. Absolutely no sat trucks on the Mallfecking joke - bet if we threw some footballs on the road when the riders had gone past we'd get some coverage, seriously though..WTF!

Unless of course Twist if correct but I cannot think that they wouldn't show it. Surely they have to check logistics...

There's nothing on here: http://tv.sky.com/tvlistings for sunday morning.
Includes all channels not just Sky (ITV4, Eurosport etc.,) so it looks like they're not bothering, too busy showing replays of tennis and golf.

Why are people getting annoyed about TV not broadcasting a test event, that doesn't even really matter in the grand scheme of things? It's very likely to be a procession anyway. I would much rather there was some decent coverage of the classics and the rest of the protour on terrestrial telly but that's not going to happen any time soon.

How many marshals with actual authority to control the public are there?
IE: police not amateur volunteers -

Hi Folks,
I've got 2 wristbands going begging for the Mall tomorrow. Only problem is I can't get out on the bike to deliver as I'm strictly busenger/trainenger until collarbone repairs.
If you can pick them up from me in Herne Hill tonight they're yours. I'm a couple of streets away from the station. Message me if you'd like them, first-comr, first-served!

IE: police not amateur volunteerssecurity contractors control the public along the route, i don't know the numbers.
This is a UCI 1.2 graded road race. The Field of Play marshals principal concern is for the welfare of the riders, ensuring the route is clear of peds at crossing points, also stationed at traffic islands (obstacles), tight corners and well spaced within sight of each other.
There are plenty of police bikes ahead of the peloton / lead group assisting us as well, plus course officials from UCI, British Cycling and LOCOG, neutral support vehicles and team cars, broom wagons, ambulance service behind, so we are all in good company
