  • Can we have a ratio of posts:bollocks spouted please?

  • you should always left join onto a dimension from a fact anyway - never inner join

  • Whoop, whoop! I made it to the top 30 of something.

  • Can we have a ratio of posts:bollocks spouted please?

No computer is powerful enough to perform this calculation

  • Can we have a ratio of posts:bollocks spouted please?

    1:1

  • ^This!

  • ^^ha!

    Must spread rep etc.!

  • (Fecking Hatbeard taking all my good ideas and posting them before me....singlehandedly!!!)

  • Get off the Internet and get a life. Stop accusing people of being racist.

Ok, when and where boys? Surprisingly good list for drinks from a random selection process.

  • What do you want to see?

I can run queries against the database if you want to construct them, just image a thread table, a post table, and that post has a threadid column and post also has a created datetime.

I'd like to see my blood alcohol levels for the past 4 days plotted against thread posts per minute.

I'd really like to go for a ride on Sunday, we could have drinks after that?

  • I stopped reading this thread the other day, why am I on a list?

Ah i was reading then when the action died off I gave up. I can't do this weekend but I next weekend would be fine if people actually do want to do something.

  • Can we have a ratio of posts:bollocks spouted please?

    1:1's a reasonable approximation

Edit: Godammit Hatbread you Tooley Street whore

  • Too soon.

    RIP sweet prince.

    lol

  • VB are you sure the date clause is working because everyones total posts in the thread is more or less same as the grouping based on last few days and I'm sure people have posted in the thread before now.

I'll check the diary, when she gets back from New York.

  • It's the unix timestamp for the beginning of this month, and the thread was pretty silent before the riots kicked off.

  • Honestly? no, not really. As I said, it's just a slighty hypocritical, mildy amusing niggling point that, when you notice it, sticks out like a sore thumb. I really like you horatio and your take on things is way way way more stimulating than most people's, and I am compulsive in my urge to play devil's advocate, but it seems like you're just an reactionary as everyone else. Is anyone posting more on this?

I apologize for my harsh response. I posted some points later that tried to explain what I meant. I also made up for everything else mean I've said by signing out of the forum by yelling "PEACE!"

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/aug/10/uk-riots-political-classes?intcmp=239

"Right there on a late-night BBC2 debate you caught a glimpse of how this week's mayhem would be used by the political classes: as a kind of grand Rorschach test in which members of right and left would peer into smouldering suburbs and shopping streets – and see precisely what they wanted to see.

If you're a leftwinger, the causes of the violence and looting are straightforward: they're the result of monstrous inequality and historic spending cuts; while the youth running amok through branches of JD Sports are what happens when you offer a generation plastic consumerism rather than meaningful jobs.

For the right, explaining the violence is even simpler – because any attempt at understanding is tantamount to condoning it. Better by far to talk of a society with a sense of over-entitlement; or to do what the prime minister did and simply dismiss "pockets of our society that are not just broken but, frankly, sick". You can expect to hear more of the same rhetoric in today's debate in parliament, especially from backbenchers on either side."

I'd like to point out now that I at no point actually said "the causes of the violence and looting." Instead I tried to get people to understand that it's not straightforward or simple, it is rather complicated, and we should try and figure out what would cause a large segment of the population to act as they were/are. Unfortunately my attempts to start a dialogue were quickly scuttled by the second group.

Don't pigeon-hole me, Bill! Or Guardian!
