Seems like a lot to pay new for what Is a simple peice of kit so if any of you have one from an old tour stuck in your growing parts bin gathering dust then let me know. . .

    Cheers, Steve

  • Also looking for one of these.

Anyone on here rate them? Particularly interested in the QR version, looks like a sturdier fixing than the sport model I've seen before.

  • used the QR one seatpost mounted for a 3 day trip tp Paris, good bit of kit, no problem as long as you don't expect it to be waterproof

  • It's very useful, especially if you don't have a Brooks or similar saddle with the relevant attachments.

They used to be really hard to find: hope Carradice have got their supplier sorted out now.

  • I have a saggy Carradice and need some uplifting in my life.
Don't suppose anyone has an unwanted QR support?

What's the advantages / disadvantages of the bagman over the SQR?

  • I use a bagman (non-QR version) that is permanently attached to an SQR bracket - it may look like a lot of ironmongery for just one saddlebag but the SQR system is so convenient. I've got SQR blocks on two of my bikes and it takes 2-3 seconds to fit or remove the saddlebag and the bagman holds it well clear of the rear wheel and stops it from swinging from side to side.

The QR bagman is a very neat device (I was inspecting one yesterday afternoon) but it's slightly more fiddly than the SQR, and the think I like about the SQR is that when you've taken the bag off, there's only a little block attached to the seatpost, no great big metal frame sticking out at the back like some sort of cold war radar device.

  • I third this request. I've got the Carradice Barley which is a really handy bit of kit but sways like a bastard and the opening ends up being on the underside if you attach it to my bike.

The various systems (SQR and QR) are £26-28 on the Carradice site. Seems a bit steep...

  • Ordered Bagman (non-QR) from Wiggles for £18. More when it arrives.

  • i just had a look on their website and I have realised that last summer I got sold a titanium bagman QR with support for the price of a normal one. Win!

edit: it's pretty easy to use, works well, i had problems with the support coming out as it had a little grub screw missing - make sure you've got them and they're tight, the support scratched up the black bit at the top though when it popped out....

  • yes that's the recurring hazard with bagman. suppose there must be a way for the manufacturer to bind the wire loop to the clamp block securely and permanently? will loctite mine when it arrives.
