  • So a bit like the book snowcrash we should privatize the country, hand out stock in it and make sure everyone gets dividends when the country makes money and pays tax when it doesn't ? :)

How does a country make money (a profit)? Maybe we should ask Wal-Mart to take over.

  • I like how a few are like GERROFF THE DOLE/BENEFITS. There's a lot of them under 18 doing looting as well!

Besides, there's a few that can't even read, write, never mind getting a damn job behind them

  • Manc Ronnie winning this thread for me at the mo

  • i know this is all part of the abrassive, anti-PC internet persona 'thing' you got going on, but seriously man - go fuck yourself, you cock.

Difficult question? Time to pull out the South Park humour.

It's amazing to see how many people on here have *everything *sorted out. I'm surprised EEI isn't Prime Minister.

  • You could put in a legal requirement that the rich pay all their taxes.

You are only obliged to pay the minimum amount of tax legally due. I get a bit frustrated when people say these sorts of things. Has anyone here ever been a student? Did you ever worked in their summer holiday's and claimed a tax rebate? Did you really need that money - as in having no where to live, no clothes, no food? Did you buy anything with that money other than the core essentials needed to survive?

If you want any fairness or flexibility in the tax law then there will always be ways of minimising your tax liability.

Further, the government uses tax policy as a way of redistributing wealth and promoting growth. Look at Enterprise Zones, or EIS.

It is exactly the same as when people bang on about making the law simpler, or more straight forward. The law is a reflection of society's problems - if the problem is simple then the law is simple, and vice versa.

  • However on reflection, it was not such a great name for a shop.

People were probably getting their own property back.

These places are just pawn shops

+1 pawn shops and legal loan sharks. They should all be burned to the ground.

  • I'm sure we've already discussed how the poor disenfranchised youths in so much poverty are all talking and videoing on their rather pricey smart phones

While generalising somewhat here, not everyone is really that poor, they just spend their money ill advisedly and thus making it worse.

  • Go Fuck Yourself!
    all the same

Ooooooh, some-one pissed on your baigel?!

    Oooooh, another

  • i was lead to believe that child benefit was capped http://www.hm-treasury.gov.uk/press_48_10.htm

    Ah, that's a new thing.

I realize this, that's why I followed on with what I did. Many of the wealthy have their country of residency somewhere like Singapore or Monaco rather than the uk. That means their tax requirements are not subject to British law.

Others just are perpetual travelers, never staying long enough in one place to count as taxable.

There's so many ways to avoid paying tax, all you need to do is read wikipedia. I'm quite tempted with perpetual traveler, since I'm always out of the country, so why should I pay tax here ?

  • @Pistantor, are you just a prick on the internetz, or does it extend to real life as well?

  • there should be a cap on maximum wage, 100k (quoted from somewhere else).

Just on that. I disagree with you for lots of reasons, but if I did ever change my mind, a maximum wage would be a % of the lowest wage (ideally within individual sectors - but that's obviously not for you) rather than a fixed figure.

Much more practical and would go more towards reducing the pay gap - which I guess is one of your big motivations for max wage.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but generally...

early years > childhood > teenage years > young adult > slightly wiser young adult > middle aged > mid life crisis > approaching retirment > retire > die

you are born > you learn things > you loose your way and think the world is against you > you get a shitty job and earn less than nothing > get/make a better job/ start a family > have enough left over cash after the divorce to buy an Mx5/boxterS > pick up life again, make largest wage of your life > retire > die

Isn't that how life works? as a teenager you are less than pennyless, yet believe you deserve everything because your life is SO hard* then as you go through life you learn things, htfu and eventually earn the mega bucks?

*forgetting that actually you are getting,,, free cloths, free housing, free food & free love (ahem) from parent/parents. But you don't realise this until later in life.

  • @Pistantor, are you just a prick on the internetz, or does it extend to real life as well?

    Apparently both

  • People were probably getting their own property back.

not 'their' property if they pawned it though, is it?

and pisti - stop being a cock

Remember to vote for me, Mark!

    Eastend Dads League?

  • If I was a PM I'd be on the streets right now slapping looters singlehandedly. Not holidaying in Tuscany.

  • Oooooh, another

Can our community leader remove this idiot for his anti semitism please?

  • ** BBC Monitoring**

Libyan foreign ministry spokesman Khalid Ka'im has called on world governments to take action over the unrest in the UK. David Cameron has lost legitimacy and "must go", Libya's official news agency Jana reports. Libya "demands that the international community not stand with arms folded in the face of this gross aggression against the rights of the British people, who are demanding its right to rule its country", the report said.

Someone else with a sense of irony!

  • Looks like the clueless-middle-class-whitey-from-the-home-counties-men are out in full force again today... Seriously, Daily Fail and mumsnet are that way >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
