It is so shamefully ridiculous. They fucking torched Primark for goodness sakes. Where is their mums supposed to buy their clothes from?
No one was even bothering to hide, everyone just out "shopping".

No sign of trouble round my way last night (Harborne). In work today near the Jewellery Quarter and there's a definite increased police presence. Loads of police vans and cars going past, I heard they're all going to the Jewellery Quarter in case anything starts round there. I know someone who works in New Street station and he says the station has been closed. No sign of any rioters where I am but allegedly it could start again any minute.

Hugo boss across the road from my office got its windows smashed in last night.
Bosses are sending us home early, just in case. Sounds like a good excuse for a good mid week ride out of brum!

I've been all around town today, it isn't that bad.
I think people are getting all edgy because they haven't actually seen the damage for themselves and feulled by wild speculation flying around (ie primark burning; not true). Most offices are asking staff to leave early and 90% of the shops in jewelery quarter are closed.
The biggest police presence is in the city centre. With coppers on most street corners and a few vans parked around or patrolling. The traffic volume is really low and the weather is nice so why not go for a ride?

That photo of the ATM (in Steve's link) made me laugh. Did they really think they could just nip round the back of it and nick the cash, or jog off with the machine? Tossers

"OK, just had 4 separate reports that the Childrens Hospital is on lockdown and rioters are trying to get in. Including one report from a woman whose sister works there. Shockingly despicable."

Got back about an hour ago from Ideal after they got looted. Helped them move their remaining stock to a safe location. Police need to get heavy with them now. It's taking the piss. Never though i'd say that!

This could easily turn into a full scale race riot bigger than this country has ever seen.
Everyone OK after last night's mayhem in B'ham?
