  • I've only ever been scared to ride in London once (7/7).. I was a bit nervous last night... Today, I'm sad to say, I am very worried.

    Bravefail.

  • So, is it Graham Norton's fault or not?

  • I’m not understanding the arguments against using water cannons. One interviewee on the BBC referred to it as an obvious upping of the ante on the part of the authorities. Well they’re behind the game as the rioters have upped the stakes already. Get used to the fact that we might have to use some fucking high-powered jets of water.

would also be handy what with the fuckers burning stuff all over the place. Joined up thinking.

  • So, is it Graham Norton's fault or not?

    He died last week.

  • Waterloo's on fire!!!!!

    it's spread to belgium now?

  • Did you get any sleep last night Nuno?

I crashed eventually around 8... until maybe 11, 12... I'm well just needed to close my eyelids for a bit. I kept hearing glass smashing all night. And it stank of smoke.

    Tyres or weed?

  • Just got the email from HR to go home - they say they've had no specific threats to our buildings but it's a precautionary measure - Hammersmtih.

  • Bravefail.

Mosdef..... But more worried for Mrs brave who's on her Colonago M10 as she was going to race tonight.

  • So... is the wise thing to do (as a bloke who has a load of staff who will need to get home), to send your staff home early and have them finish off the day's work from the comfort of their own homes?

    Do it Dave.

  • Tyres or weed?

    dry ice

I haven't seen anything actually factual or solid (or real), apart from Theresa May's pathetic ideological "The way we police in Britain is not through use of water cannon. The way we police in Britain is through consent of communities."

Time and a place bitch, it's going to happen eventually, it's been happening for years in Northern Ireland, why not now for London?

  • West Londoner saying shops closing in Putney now.

  • qwe

  • oh you bell

    ha, sorry,

i told you i was going to make something up, then i did. it's just that this thread's moving so fast it flipped over the page before i had time to do it.

by the time i'd admitted it was made up (about 10 seconds later) half a dozen people have taken it at face value and are demanding evidence

massive joke fail. i'm logging off for a bit. gots work to do anyway.

  • Imagine this:

The same kids I've filmed last night mugging the whole of Lower Clapton, are AWS! downstairs, chilling at the chicken shop. The same shop they've tried to break in last night, a few ours ago.
paying for fried Chicken. Does it make any bloody sense...?

  • Cunts. Hypocrites.

  • Waterloo's on fire!!!!!

WTF?!? im in waterloo station right now. where's the fire? no evac announcement yet

  • You implied you're only poor enough to not get those things if you're homeless. Education and healthcare are a lottery, based on postcode. Access & provision is so messed up in some boroughs that 'normal' low income families are failing to get what they're entitled to.
I'm not saying it's the poor doing all the rioting. I'm saying the rioting is happening in a state where consumer values are rated more highly than social values, something exacerbated by the disparity in wealth, causing a destablized environment in which not-give-a-fuck people can fuck things up for everyone else (whether they do it through rioting, or irresponsible economic activity that diverts funding away from public spending).

The lottery is where you get treated, not IF you get treated. Which London borough doesn't have an NHS GP in it? Which A&E department won't deal with you because you are too poor?

You might be right about the why, I don't know. Why aren't more people rioting though if it's really a case of widening wealth gap? Why haven't I seen a single placard with a reason or even a call to arms. To me it's just appearing as smash and grab from people who think they can get away with it due to being shielded by a mob that once might have had a reason to riot.

  • +1 dooks!

    /must spread more dooks...

    blood... boiling

Apparently it was a lie. Blame Dooks.

  • Email from the director saying we should go home early.

I'm in Birmingham. Slight over-reaction maybe? (although not from their point of view considering we only loose 2 1/2 hours work) Last nights damage was no worse than an average saturday night.
