  • Quite a lot of tweed types around...
All chatting bollocks about fucking big society.

bet they're the same fuckers that fill up all the places on the tweed ride and can't even ride a bike, and if they don't one then start up an 'alternative' version.

  • Free dOnuts

  • Tweed Riot?

  • The met has started putting up photos on their flickr

    xander

  • Looted charity shop in Clapham. Cunts.

  • This.

The 'poor' disaffected youth organising riots with blackberrys, twitter and fb? Please. It's just a robbery flashmob they know they can get away with.

    Anyone wanna buy a widescreen?

You can get a Blackberry on a contract for less than £6 a month. Does not prove anything, although I do think this is all about relative poverty.

However, many reports of looters driving reasonably expensive cars. In my view, I can't afford a car. So at least quite a lot of them are just greedy stupid *****.

  • Probation officer friend has been told to shut shop due to police info that riots will be happening at 1pm in Lewisham and Catford.

Shopkeepers in Deptford are working on the same assumption.

  • I grew up in the same esates, went to the same schools, got the same grades and have the same job prospects and time on my hands as these kids, many of which are my age..

but for some reason I have no urge for violence or free tv's.

I would suggest that the issue lies further back than the credit crunch or Tory cuts..
This is not a new problem, the attitude of lawlessness has lingered for a long time, and I blame a lack of discipline at home and in schools.

    This, oh and Beckham.

For every "poor, victimised, disillusioned" youth out there last night there were 100 "poor, victimised, disillusioned" youths sitting at home thinking "you pricks are destroying my home".

  • 5 then 6 then 8, then probably 5 again

  • Lots of sirens at the IKEA in Edmonton. They love a good battle there. Update to follow.

  • Looted charity shop in Clapham. Cunts.

I wouldn't mind so much if its the cats protection league, after it turned out they had millions in the bank

  • People who keep banging on about them being able to afford things therefore must not be that badly off: There is more to life than buying stuff! Maybe the issue has more to do with not feeling any connection to the society they live in, and less to do with wanting shiny things? If you think you can riot and loot and smash up your own neighbourhoods it's probably because you have no feeling of connection with those neighbourhoods.

  • I recognise that bloke in the bow tie.

    serk outside Mothercare...

    "Relative poverty". Seriously WTF.
    I don't own a Bentley - should I start stealing from bankers?

You either can't afford to eat, go to school, get medication or you can.

How many regular homeless people were stealing shit last night?

  • they're gathering in waterloo area. work email...

We have received police intelligence there is youths gathering in Lower Marsh and they may be some problems in this area....

  • People . . . . [EDITED] . . . . . neighbourhoods.

Yes, agreed, people are taking a very reductionist approach to all this, it's complex, are these people cunts, yep, cunts they are, is there a reason for their cuntish behaviour or was there suddenly an outbreak of monsters last night, I'd guess there are underlying reasons for them being cunts.

  • Here's a nice example of the laziest of lazy journalism that pervades during these types of events.

Is technology to blame for the London riots?

I would imagine that somewhere, someone wrote an article titled "Is witchcraft to blame for the great fire of 1666?"

You connect to society by smashing shop windows? Bullshit.
I feel no connection with football teams.. I don't stone their buses as they head into Wembley.

Fuck, they're keen to start early.

they're not particularly poor economically, they're poor socially. But they like it that way.

  • My greatest fear last night was of more arson. It sounds as if not many more buildings went up, thankfully. While I realise there's slim hope, I hope that they catch some of the arsonists at least. :(
