Are you working in Loughton at the moment? Fancy a ride on Wednesday if I can make it out to Fairlop earlier? Or an evening next week (maybe not Monday) if you're free.
I would totally be keeping clear of Stratford if I didn't live there. oh dear.

Genuinely getting slightly worried about Stratford riots. Think we'll hoik through Plaistow instead.
edit: oh, talk of stuff kicking off there as well. And Ilford. hmm.
-
• #204
Plaistow? there aren't even any bloody shops in plaistow...
-
• #205
stay safe rosie
-
• #206
You're right, my geography's wrong. It's Romford Rd. Ilford and Stratford shopping centres both been closed...
I am using Twitter as a news source though which is never a good idea.
Do you think we should go to Kent instead or am I overreacting? I've never had to cycle through a riot before.
-

If you want to postpone/barricade yourself inside than that's fine with me Rosie. Would up for a ride weds.
Tbh I was wondering if cycling home from Stratford, alone, back to Tottenham after dark through some spots that have been identified for trouble tonight is a good idea.
All the shops in Stamford Hill have closed on police instruction...do they think the Hassidic Jews are going to go postal?
Hmmm...it's kicking off in Hackney and Dalston now according to C4 news which is all a bit close to home for me. Think I'm going to be lame and go straight home after all. Sorry!

• #208
OK. I'm still riding, but I think I'm going to head south somewhere. Still leaving at 6 if anyone wants to join.
-
• #209
Ended up doing the Stratford route anyway, after all that. Riots were not nearly as exciting as the family of deer I saw at South Weald.
-
• #210
glad to hear it :)
at least one forumger was bikemugged tonight :( -
• #211
Holy crap. I don't have internet except on my phone right now so hadn't seen your post or any other news reports until just now when I thought I should maybe check to see why the sirens hadn't stopped in three hours. Would've been far less flippant in my previous post if I'd realised. Hope everyone's OK.
-
• #212
yep. i was a bit surprised you went ahead! i'm not sure about polo tomorrow, it's just through here!
i meant glad to hear the rioting wasn't "exciting" where you went. some places have had burning cars, buildings and riot police running from bottles, bricks etc.

I am riding tonight if anyone wants to join, but leaving from Stratford (ran in today so am sans bike) about 7pm.
-
• #214
Tempted, as I had strong legs this morning, but a bit late for me. I'll probably head up to Regent's Park for some boring laps.
-
• #215
Actually I'm going to the pub instead. oh god.
-
• #216
...
-
• #217
mega stamina.
-
• #218
Lack of stamina surely. I am too knackered to go for a ride. I just don't want to go to my crappy internetless house.
-
• #219
ah put like that it makes sense. just thinking about going to a pub makes me weak atm.
I would say come over here, but I'm out for the evening, not sure what Oli's up to :(
not long to go! -
• #220
I am pretty sure racing will require more stamina than lifting a pint glass. Though possibly not for you, it's true.
-
• #221
As I failed to make it out yesterday, going out tonight for some rain, headwinds and too many gear inches. 6pm from the usual place if anyone wants to join.
-
• #222
Am going away tomorrow morning and as per I have left pretty much everything to the last minute, so no can do.
Enjoy EE TB and HB! for when it comes!
-
• #223
No ride tonight, much as I really want to go for a ride, and Thursday's probably not feasible but Monday next week will be the inaugural Kent Afterworker. Still leaving Whitechapel Rd at 6pm, but it will head south and end, appropriately, at Souths for a pint.

A bit late to this party but keen on joining on a ride leaving from Loughton (if any)
-
• #225
Hm, I may need to get the title of this thread changed. There will still be Essex Afterworkers, but I'm moving south so they are going to have to coexist with Kent and Surrey Afterworkers. I'll try and map the next Essex one through Loughton; it won't leave from there but you can certainly join there.
Oooh, ok....I might leave you to it then because I will probably be leaving Loughton at 5.15, so 6.45 at Fairlop is a bit late for me.
And if you reckon that Stratford is the next site of riots then I am keeping clear!
Have a lovely ride though. We are getting closer to our rides coinciding.
