Might be interested in the Dawes. More specifically the fork. I need a 1" threaded fork with around 200mm of steerer. Does this one fit the bill?
Thanks.

Re. The Dawes fork: steerer isn't long enough I'm afraid: about 175 or 180mm. I do have an old Raleigh Winner frame kicking around though which is in pretty good nick, only the bottom-bracket cups have seized...haven't been able to shift them for love nor money (and nor have two shops)...the headset is still silky though...the forks from that could go - the steerer on them is 210mm.
Re. the cottered single - it's barely worth the trouble, but then I'd rather it get used than binned, so yeah, if nobody who can collect it comes forward by the end of the day, it's yours.

Cheers - sounds promising. My headtube's very slightly over 16cm so 210mm plus a spacer or two should do I assume? How far down is it threaded, and does it have mudguard eyelets?

Headtube on the Winner is 173mm. Threading goes 28mm down the steerer. 10mm exposed thread when fork is fitted and adjustable race screwed down. 5mm thread on adjustable race....so, current set up uses 15mm of the 28mm of threads, so 13mm spare. Your headtube is slightly under 13mm shorter so should be just fine.
Forks are mid/dark blue with a quick fade to white near the top. There are indeed mudguard eyelets - big ones!

Thanks Theeb - sounds good to me. What sort of price are we talking? And would you be able to post (unless you're around Oxford way)?

Yeah, I'll post. Guessing the postage will be a fiver or so. How does £12 all-in sound?

What material's the halford frame? Can you post?
-
• #10
The frame is some sort of cheap gaspipe-style steel. I'll check it out tomorrow to see if there's any indication on the frame.
Yeah, I can post. For a frame it's usually cheaper to do it through shiply.com or parcel2go or someone like that, than through royal mail. They do door-to-door for under a tenner.
PM me if you want to do that and we can work out a time/date for collection. -
