Steal head tube > fork and spacers (?)
Also the majority of custom frames seem to have higher headtubes.

Those bikes deserve to be in anit-porn. I think they may have already made a fleeting visit

£9500 bike comes with bodygard.
Porn?
£9500 for a £400 Charge Plug with a bit of gold leaf on it?
-
• #51258
The gold leaf probably doesn't even cost that much, they're probably charging £1500p/hr to stick it on though

Sweet Wings, they're steel* so ripping out he pedal eyes is less likely than you think.
i love these, been after some for years but not so common sadly

Looked better with black tires and without tribals on the stem ;)
↑This↑ & ↑This↑
Strange how the Bontrager XXX logo on the stem manages to be far more offensive than the giant Giant logos on the frame. Also a pretty porky stem for a weighweenie bike

Wouldn't be as stiff and light though.
Thin stays must be very 'bendy'
There must be a high load on the chain stay join to the BB shell. -

The wire one I thought you were going to say was made for Johnny Hoogerland, in which case it would have been OK.
As for the other one, WTF! It looks like someone's 2 year old has been at it with the crayons

To fit a taller rider without making the frame all bendy? Cf. Zinn
Mercian do the rasied headtubes, I have an extra 1cm on my 61cm custom one, personal taste really, mines not as high as that, just an extra 1cm. I think its looks better with an aheadset as my stem just sits on one of the icklist type of spacer rather than a stack. I agree it looks a bit Mr Tefal though.

Its a no to the Pegoretti's, any of them, as I cant dance to the head tube arrangement. That 30 odd mill above the top tube is boufing.

Both frames come from Caldonazzo .. "Barbed Wire" (Gantanamo scheme) looks like a Marcelo and "The crayon one" (Ciavete - means f**k you in local dialect - scheme is hand painted by Pegoretti and is unique to this bike i.e. one scheme per bike) is a Responsorium. Pegoretti's are built with a dropped top tube to gain the stiffness without the looks of a compact which is why the head tube is extended.

OK, I promised my frankenbike submission, and here it is - my girlfriend's build:
There's a variety of mods to it - dynamo hub, 27" alloys instead of the original steels, etc. I think the thing that tips it into frankenbike territory is probably the headlight which I ended up having to mount in the front of the basket. Kind of makes me think of:
From rat/franken/beater thread... not my usual flavour but I think it's very lovely...

My Roberts has a pretty big one too - chas explained what it was for, but I can't remember why it was better than a stack of spacers. Looks a bit uncool when the frame is bare, but the alternative would a load of spacers anyway.
