I meant to mention, it originally used 27"wheels, so it now has massive clearances.
I have some Halo twin rail indestructable dual compound tyres, 700x38, which I think would make it a really great town bike.
otherwise various quality/sizes of tyres available. -

Now not dibbed, size not right.
So just to be clear, ideal height range 5"7 to 5"11, although it will depend on your inside leg....
forgot to mention I can do shiny silver campag cranks, extra cost of course.....

Hi All.
New to this, and I have a whole bunch of questions - hopefully you can help?
I found a Viscount Indy 500 (below) in a builders yard - had been sitting there for almost a decade apparently - and I cant wait to clean it up and get it road worthy.I'm wondering how old the thing it? I cant find any info on the Indy 500 model, so I'm wondering if its rare? Or if its jut older than the areospace bikes?
Any info would be grand, I'll be setting up a new thread on here just as soon as the registration goes through.
See below,
Cheers. -

is this still available? If so would you sell the frame/forks alone? Oh and if so how much? ta

Hi there, it might be available for the right price.
What are you willing to part with? -

I have a Viscount Alamo, which was made in about 1977. It looks to be very similar to the Indy 500 - basic tubing, lugged, with similar decals and components. I think Viscount went through a phase of naming their cheaper bikes after American cities or events. I've also seen a Daytona and another that I forget. These aren't as good as the Aerospace models, which were the company's flagship.

So, I'm putting this up for sale again as I have too many bikes and not enough cash....
Price is now £225, will split if you really insist, but it is a great bike 'as is'Currently has black porteur bars and cork grips fitted, but can retrofit the silver combo in the pics.
Could deliver to central, later this week.
please follow up posts/dibs with a PM,

If you split I'd be interested in "dibbing" the chrome fork.
How much?

Now splitting

The chrome fork was absolutely gorgeous, sadly it didn't suit my bike as I hoped it would, Gav was gracious enough to not only buy the fork back, but he even came out to meet me to both deliver and then collect!
A stand up bloke, whoever does end up buying the bike or any parts of it will be very very satisfied.
Now splitting, forks have gone.....
open to offers on all other bits....
It is a very nice 1980/81 fully lugged steel frame, branded "KP crisps Viscount" (KP Crisps sponsored the Viscount racing and cyclocross teams 1980-82). The branding and logos look really good, but are tatty in places. This could possibly be an ex-racing frame, but if it is I'd guess it was a cyclocross frame, as it has mudguard eyelets. It could also have been a 'race rep', to capitalise on Tony Doyle's racing success.
Size is 21" seat tube c to c, 22" top tube c to c
It has an immaculate chrome fork, which may not be original. The frame has a number of marks, chips and a little surface rust, but seems very sound and has no dings or dents. I have treated any rust with Kurust and then painted with white hammerite, which isn"t a perfect match but looks ok. There are still plenty of marks on the frame, which should help deter thieves.
