  • sounds like it was a good night out in the lanes.

i managed to jump on the ms chris diapo train as they returned home south thru borough, only to puncture within 50 metres. i walked back to london bridge for the train.

i just knew i was not meant to be riding last night. ho hum

  • The Roydon ride was always one of my favourites and the reverse one didn’t disappoint either. It is so calm and almost uneventful but still entertaining. The few short uphill section made for a nice surprise.
Last night reminded me how important it is to always keep the tyre properly inflated, the 67.5 psi I put on after the puncture resulted in a nice pinch puncture on the ride back with shoots. Luckily it was only 1k before the service station on High Road/ Epping Forest round about.
Will, thanks for the drink and inner tube it came in handy but I must say the valve is very short to fit the deep Vs.

    it's all in the detail

  • great ride, can we do some surrey mountains next time?

my pump fits on it ok and shorter valve cuts weight down. ;)

good ride all. v.nice ride with some cleansing rain at the end.

    that is short for:
    enough but not really enough
    or
i can squoosh the tire just a little bit with mit left thumb, my right thumb would tell me i should just keep on pumping with this joke pump.

i think jaygee has something to say about that too, he was raising eyebrows on that 60mm beauty. i would have killed for even a 48mm fixing that second puncture.

    no.

Some of the roads have got sooo rotten out there. Think I'd poo myself a little bit doing them at night.

  • ^ just be a little more vigilant on calls and dittos?

  • Reversed route was good for two reasons:

    1. short sharp climbs with nice long descents
    2. we rode the gravel strewn lanes in daylight rather than at the end

Top marks go to claus for the timely puncture that caused us to find a nice possibly Norman Church with the all important outside tap (it was a hot night and my bottle was dry).

More likely to be gothic if it had a tap, tho if the tap was stainless instead of brass you could be looking a neo-norman.

    Or not.

  • Roydon exists in my mind in three phases:
ride out: easy pace, daylight, chat.
narrow winding scenic bits as the sun is setting,
return leg: totally dark, fast, tunnel vision.

  • ^ Royd on.

  • Where were you Oliver? I was told you actually ride your bike. They were wrong.

  • Couldn't make last night, sadly, but I've done Roydon twice before on the TNRC and once in the daytime on my own.

I've hardly ridden my bike this year, though. :(
