Police at Clapham Common with a motorbike for chasing. But they had a radar gun and were after speeding cars for a change.
Shame the real problem round there is the left-hooking 100m further on, but at least they were trying, bless them.

Lots of bike police around Tooting - Balham. I witnessed the most amusing scene this morning. At the junction in Balham (by Waitrose), red light for us. A guy trackstands badly, ie moves v-e-r-y slowly to the middle of the junction. The light changes for peds and he goes through - well it's that or having to put his foot down. And out of nowhere two police officers rode across the road and stopped him. And then the light changed to green. I love red lights!

Priceless!
Shame the same didn't happen to the Several of motorised RLJs I saw this morning.

Cops around Regent's park targeting cyclists going through red lights. Seem to be pulling over a few cars and motorbikes for various things as well.

This morning junction of HSK and Ken Church St.
Lots and lots of plod around, so I stop at the white line in between two cars. A lovely lady offers me a bike check while I am waiting.
Then a guy on an MTB pulls up behind me and asks "Excuse me mate, can you pull over the line so I can get past?"
"Sorry, no. If you actually looked, no there are tons of plod at the junction and I don't want to pull over the line to get a ticket just for you."
At which point he starts bashing his bike into my rear wheel, to which he received, "Could you please, kindly, fuck the fuck off."
MTB nodder cnut, "Have you got a problem with cyclists?"
"No, just twats who insist on ramming me, to try to get me out of the way."

More plod at Hammersmith, following email has been sent to them.
"This morning police were at the Hammersmith Gyratory, stopping and fining cyclists for running the red light.
I perfectly understand this and believe that road traffic laws apply to all road users.
However I asked the officers if they were going to enforce the ASL. The car in front of me had pulled into the ASL blocking my access to it whilst the lights were red.
The response was "should we be doing something about all three cars?" as there were 3 cars filling the entire ASL, so I replied yes, it appeared to be part of their job.
The officers then explained it was not their job. I asked why they were only bothering cyclists, and not enforcing all the infringements that were occuring at the junction. I pointed out that the cars occupying the ASL (and entering it when the lights are red) constitute a safety hazard to cyclists.I find their attitude really poor. If you are deploying staff to enforce penalties they should actually be doing so, not selectively targetting a minority of road users."

Massive police cordon by Clerkenwell Road/ Farringdon Road junction. Anyone know what happened?
-
• #812
Clerkenwell Road is closed because of an accident involving a cyclist :-( Really hope it's not true

Police say it's an accident involving a cyclist but thankfully NOT FATAL

Sure you know this but they're selectively targetting RLJers because of what's currently on their agenda & what's identified as priority from community meetings etc.
That's what they explained to me last week on Kingsland rd whilst handing over the ticket anyway.

That's hardly surprising considering there was no accident.
Farringdon currently has too many police, some armed and police dogs.Does that sound like a downed cyclist to you?

^^^ Apparently it's not illegal to stop in ASLs.

^^^ Apparently it's not illegal to stop in ASLs.
In some respect yes, it's more of a loophole really, as the reasoning that the traffic light change and the driver didn't have time to stop before the ASL.
If you drove onto the ASL on purpose and the police notice this - they can fine you.

Police called, to "address my concerns" and to explain they were taking this seriously. Poor guy got me in debating mode, so I pointed out that I have notified police of ASL infringements previously and been told it is not a problem. I was told that some action would be taking place, and I then asked if anyone had ever been fined for entering the ASL...
The guy had clearly been on a difficutl customer course, but actually had no clout or ability to address any of the real concerns, or the jobsworth attitude, or the singular focus of the police at the junction of just nabbing cyclists.

The was to get the ASL enforced would be the same principal as rlj'ing gets a look in. get a number of people to complain "it's a menace and something needs to be done about it" "they nearly ran over an old dear" "revving engines was intimidating" "nearly got run over as I couldn't enter the asl line" etc etc
I doubt the press would ever get involved though unless there's a waste of tax payers money angle?
