Long argyle socks are on eBay - or get some flouro ones from the stall opposite the bagel bake on brick lane on Sundays.
Ebay... I think I have heard of that. Feel foolish not to have checked there first and have now ordered a lovely pair of long argyle beauties. Thanks for supplementing my failing brain functions.
Had to buy a pack of 6 pairs though! Anyone need some long Argyle socks? Could hand them over on the day.

ah yes, someone just reminded me that cordings do nice ones as well (cordings is owned by eric clapton, btw... fun trivia)
the tiny little scarves that the socks come with are called "flashes" or "garters". you tie them above the calf to keep the socks up. you can have the ends of the flashes sticking out from under your plus twos, for added style points. the colourful cuff of the socks isn't supposed to show.

I have rifled through many racks of late but just can't find one with a storm collar.
Was in Hornets Ken Church St - they had a couple with collars that buttoned up - with a separate little flap to do up - pricey though - £90 odd

There's a nice vintage store in Brockley that does loooads of tweed.

there are some very beautiful things in this shop however
the lady that runs this store is not very pleasant and lies roll off her tongue as smoothly as the truth. that said go to this store armed with this knowledge and her behaviour is almost comedic. -

As it's a natural material just air the jacket regularly if it gets a bit pongy. You can cold hand wash it if need be, it just takes an age to dry (48 hours), lie it flat, strecth to shape and don't hang it.

damn...i was hoping the OP's question meant"what the fuck is it with this obsession with tweed?"........alllowing me to spout forth a bile-inflected stream of abuse about Faux Edwardian twats with fucking stupid taches and a hankerin for the good old days of Empire when women and ethnics knew their place and you could happily use the word "gay" before the homo's commandeered it.....
