  • i'd add these two ebay shops:

    paul milnes

    kinetic-one

    decent service, and good prices

  • I never add eBay shops, not on any of the lists. Sorry about that.

  • hey no worries, you do a stupendopus job of listmeistering, but paul milnes and kinetic-one are real bricks and mortar shops too

  • I shall add them to the street-based shops list then. Soon. ;)

  • Just had another glowing experience with SJS, with regards to a replacement product for an out of stock part. It's so pleasant when a company makes themselves this easy to deal with.

  • Just had a really bad experience with Fat birds.

no concrete ETA, only to be followed up with delays on the item for over a month. Why i wasn't told this as soon as they knew beggars belief.

They were more than happy to remove money from my account with out any firm date of invoicing. I think that's really bad form, and means that I have to wait for my refund to come through before I can order from elsewhere.

Won't recommend, although their pricings seem strong, it's not worth the saving.

  • Hey all,

    Anyone...?

    Thanks again.

  • Anyone used http://www.activesport.co.uk ? There site looks a bit dodge but there price's are cheap and they have a whole load of stuff I want that I would have to order from 3 seperate websites instead.

  • Read post 2 on this thread. It's on the first page.

  • This week I have used:

    www.discountcyclesdirect.co.uk - for Maxxis Refuse x2 @ £35

www.sidicafe.co.uk - for sidi fastener spare

Both great prices and items have turned up within a couple of days

  • Read post 2 on this thread. It's on the first page.

Cheers GA2G, Search fail on my part (must have searched threads not posts) There's loads of references to activesport on here - Mostly bad. Thought it seemed too good to be true..

    Great service & good prices...

  • don't use activesport (not listed), they fucked me around for 2-3weeks on a pair of rims

Wish I'd read this before I placed my order nearly a month ago.

Ordered a pair of long-reach brakes and new cables. Soon got an email with a link, and a few days later the link said "shipped". It didn't arrive for a few days so I emailed them saying (very politely) 'it's 'shipped' but it hasn't arrived yet' and I got an email back saying (verbatim) "yeah you have been emailed this Thanks". Emailed back saying no I haven't, and I didn't get a response.

Emailed them again a few days later and they said "yeah you have a delivery tomorrow", didn't come... emailed them, no response... emailed a few days later saying 'Hi, if you haven't already sent it, please don't send it because I'm cancelling my order under Distance Selling Regulations' and opened a Paypal dispute.

Then a few days later I got an email from Paypal saying that it was posted (after I sent them the email cancelling the order) and with a tracking number - over two weeks after my initial order. This was over a week ago and it hasn't arrived yet, and because the bastards ignored me cancelling the order and posted it anyway, I have to pay the return postage to get it back to them. I've emailed them since and they haven't responded.

In the meantime I bought the same parts from Spa Cycles - only a couple of quid more, ordered on Thursday, delivered on Saturday, bike ridden on Sunday.

EDIT - Don't want to bump this old thread up - OJAW that's the same as in the UK, but I'm not in the house in the daytime and somebody else signed for it when it was eventually delivered (yesterday). I posted it immediately and got a refund today, minus the £5 it cost me to return it (which I should've invoiced them for, but I forgot and since the law doesn't mandate this, I don't think there's much chance of receiving it). Took a month, could've been worse, but still annoying and I'm not buying from them again.

  • I don't know how it works in your country, but over here I can just refuse shipment at the door with no penalty as long as Paypal has covered me for the disputed order.

  • AspireVelotech. Just an amazing store to do business with. Had a few hipcups with delivery, which I fully expected to need to sort out from my end. Aspire replied within 12 hours to every E-mail, and then solved the problem for me. Fast, friendly, and cheap.

  • Charlie The Bike Monger is shit. I entered my current postage address on the website with a note attached saying post to this address not paypal address and low and behold he posts to the paypal address, when i sent an email he said it s my problem deal with it. It ended up costing me around 45 pounds for my old man to post back(far far away). Which is retarded because i paid the postage to my europe address in the first place and he complained about being out of pocket for the postage to (far far away). Pain in the arse and the pocket.

  • Thats the first negative comment I've heard about Charlie The Bike Monger. Previously, all other comments have been positive.
Its a shame that happened to you.

  • I'm in the middle of a new project and ordering things from quite a number of places. Just thought I'd share a couple of really positive companies I've dealt with and keep the list up to date..

Merlin - Ordered Friday mid day and delivered 9am Saturday morning. Really well packed.

High on Bikes (via their eBay store) - Really rapid processing. Ordered Friday afternoon then later realised I'd ordered the wrong colour cables and sent a query at 1am Saturday morning. Reply back at 6:44am saying order had already left but no issue on returning it for a swap. Package arrived later the next day. Sent another message today confirming I'd sent back and had a reply back in under 10 mins. I've just placed another order for a matching gear cable set on the back of the service I've had. Best price I could find anywhere for Jagwire.

On-One - I'd read a few comments about slow dispatch on other sites but this has really impressed me. Ordered at 2am Saturday (The Indian summer sale was to much to resist!). Confirmation of dispatch on Saturday mid day. Now the really nice bit - Sat here this morning and get a mail at 9am advising that my package will arrive between 10:10 and 11:10am today. They're using PDP for the delivery which I think is a change from last time I ordered anything from them. Package has just arrived at 10:35. I'm bloody impressed.

Please note I have no connection with any of the above companies.

Now if only the frame I won last Sunday on eBay would make an appearance...

  • Merlin - Ordered Friday mid day and delivered 9am Saturday morning. Really well packed.

    Had the same. Bloody fast.

  • I never add eBay shops, not on any of the lists. Sorry about that.

Can I ask why? I can't see any difference over other on-line etailers other than you go through a central portal. Surely if they get good feedback from forum members they deserve to be on the list? I'd rather use paypal on a well secured site than trust my credit card to some of the other sites already listed.

  • They have a non ebay shop too.
    http://www.highonbikes.com/

  • I've used Highonbikes loads. Always been satisfied.

  • ^ This.

  • Fixed&Broken some ebay shops and sellers can close down very very suddenly. Normally it has to do with non-payments to the taxman. If there is a physical shop presence of the said eBay shop, then that itself is a bit of a comfort.
