    He flogged his lungs out for hours and hours on the front, controlling the pace and chasing breaks. Many riders would get rather pissy about such donkey work but he manned up and got stuck in.

    If he was protected, he'd be top 10 for sure.

    Did he? Most of the leg work was done by Lars Bak and Danny Pate. Martin used to pop up for a couple of kilometres in the final 5 kms.

    He was pretty anonymous in this Tour, there are many, many more riders who deserve more credit than he does.
