Wanted: Steel Touring Bike (57-8cm)

I am looking for a reliable touring bike, on which I will ride 1000+ miles this summer. I have considered Dawes Galaxy, Holdsworth Mistral, Claud Butler Majestic.

If anyone has anything along these lines, please let me know.

majestic is good (same as holdworth cyclone) but dalesman is better if looking for CB - same level (maybe even same frame as) mistral.

are you looking for fully loaded tourer or lighter tourer because if lighter then galaxy may be too heavy, but tons of old club bikes will be great.

for heavier use how about this it's 60/57 135 oln, 73/73 3900 grams as seen with it's 111 good campy BB, only 3 or 4 miles use by the builder to 'try it out'

I have looked at Claud Butler Dalesman, but they seem to be slightly harder to find and more expensive than Majestics, although I am sure they are much better bikes.

Is that frame for sale?

The bike is going to be fully loaded, so strength over weight at this stage.

one's on ebay right now , so is for sale obviously.
the other new one's just languishing here at the moment, but if there's a good offer going i'll sell it. but it is 60cm

i think the mistral will be an identical but re-branded dalesman (or vice versa) if it's strenght over weight, then i'm sure mistral or cyclone will be fine too

I may have a claude butler dalesman 56cm( tt ) frame , headset and brakes up for sale next month. Its the same frame as the modern Galaxy. Check their website for the actual bike.

The time of sale depends on the speed @ which other projects are completed.
