Bike snobbery can fuck off please.
way too much of that on this forum, club riders do 100 mile rides every week but never feel the need to boast about it. Some east end hipsters manage the dunitch dynamo then think they're god's gift to cycling.

To sum it up Scoot seems to have a massive problem with Greenracer for some reason. Then all her pals got involved and now every single thread that Greenracer posts on gets pretty heavily derailed by those guys ganging up on him/her and it goes to pot for a while till they get bored.

I gave myself achiles tendonitis in my left ankle as a result of doing too many miles and hills at too a high a pace recently.
I have had 17 complete rest days off the bike (apart from daily stretching). All swelling has gone and the tendon is painless when stretched in any direction and/or pinched touched. It has been painless for three full days.
Should I go for a pootle for a few miles today or should I er on the side of caution and give myself another couple of days to recover before getting back on the bike?

Ihave a Shimano SLX headset which when fitted leaves no thread for the lock-nut.
If i fit a Tange Passage headset will there then be sufficient thread for the lock-nut, or do i need a new fork. -

I did this year before last, it went away, I got back on the bike- it came back with a vengeance.
It's load that does it, go for a really spinny gear and don't push it and you should be ok.

Cheers mate. I think you are right.
I'm going to go for a couple of spinny miles and see how it is in the morning. As you say, if I end up hitting the hills now I could end up making things worse. Tendons are strange things to heal.
A few years ago I had quad tendonitis and got back to sport too early. I couldn't run for 9 months. Better to rest for too long than too little I guess.

What was that 80s cartoon where the animals (mostly lions?) in a zoo kept trying to escape and they rode around on an invisible bicycle?

Sort of what other people said. From experience:
loosen/internally lubricate the joint before starting (just slowly putting it through its full range of motion in all axes)
be most careful about unnecessary snatching at the pedalstroke, especially when pushing off or accelerating
relax, and don't fixate on the troubled area, as it tends to make you pedal unnaturally
don't be afraid to pop an Ibuprofen after your ride for the first few days, as it can help to subdue mild soreness that you might misinterpret as the beginning of another massive flare-up, making you fixate on the area whilst off the bike as well, which tends to exacerbate things
Good work on managing to rest it for so long!
