  • This reminds me... Been meaning to post some pics of my updated pompino. It was starting to look very tatty in it's original brown finish so decided to strip it back to bare metal followed by a linseed oil treatment which seems to be doing a good job of preventing rust thus far.

    I have had truly excellent bare steel results by keeping a can of highly refined petroleum distillates around. You can just respray the entire bike as needed. maybe takes 30 seconds once a week.

    you just need to re apply.

    the key in all these things is to have the protective agent be the LEAST viscous it can be. Hence the use of highly refined dislillates.It needs to get into the pores of the metal and displace the water. Counter intuitive at first.

    reapplication is always needed.
