  • When I cycled to France last year the camp site we stayed in had one of them Spider web climbing things, it was so much fun.

  • from the times this morning.

    wow. just... wow.

  • Surely this is an appalling choice of language, taken from a headline in the Gruniad:

    Selena Gomez, tween queen
Hilary Duff's gone. Miley Cyrus is going. But Disney has a new star groomed. Welcome to the Selena Gomez phenomenon

  • Police investigating whether James Murdoch lied to the commons select committee, get in!

  • ^^^^At first glance that Times cartoon is in very bad taste, but his point about priorities can't be argued with. Peter Brookes is an exceptional satirist; his series of 'Nature Notes' cartoons bashing politicians being particularly inspired.

  • It can be argued with. It's premise is that it's either/or.

  • I think it’s accurate to say, as Brookes does, that famine is more important than the phone-hacking stores, as shocking as they are.

  • Of course, who would say otherwise?

It's a rationale (of priorities) only ever put forward by those with either disinterest in the issue at hand, or with an agenda.

To a lot of people the phone hacking scandal is just another scandal. It's not, it's a big deal, although it obviously pales into insignificance when compared with what might be the worst drought in in east africa for decades, but it's a strange comparison. Yes if it had more news time, then it may recieve more aid, but to blame that on phone hacking coverage is silly.

besides, if the phone hacking story hadn't of broke, the euro crisis would eclipse anything, as would the royal wedding as would anything domestic. I'd be glad for it to change, but many of those who are fine with it like that, suddenly find themselves demanding we prioritise foreign aid when the big news story doesn't suit them.

  • The cartoon is shocking but on point.

  • It's NOT suggesting it's either or, it's commenting on the fact that the media is full to the brim with stuff on hacking but has hardly touched the famine situation.

  • 1 fatality reported so far.
Cause unknown- ecoterrorism has been suggested.

  • eco? Car bomb thing is suspected according to some reports / tw@tters

  • yeah, thats what I had heard, but no clue really.
    death toll rising.

Thoughts out to our norwegian forumers.

  • Islamic terrorism has been suggested also -- by unnamed Internet commentators.

  • Well it's been confirmed as a bomb, there have been two explosions. Sounds bad.

  • after watching TdF at its most brilliant, such shocking news.. i need to contact friends in oslo..

  • my mate was two blocks away from where it happened. in one piece thankfully.

  • At least seven killed, the bomb at the PM's office followed by a gunman opening fire at a Labour youth meeting.

Awful news, thoughts with everyone affected.

    nsfw

Harrowing, upsetting, but why NSFW? Its the cover of the independent?

  • what does NSFW stand for?

  • Not safe for work. Usually porn, 2 girls 1 cup, meatspin or similar.

  • I see. Meatspin is my favourite of all of those.

  • I hate what happened. Whoever has done it, simply wants people to fight each other.

I've seen some pretty upsetting and full of hatery comments from Muslamic trolls (about making Norwegians suffer) on the net and as upstetting responses from the European Far Right. All fucking mongs.
