I didn't pay customs, no, and I did adapt it to fit my Protect helmet fairly easily with a hammer and some pliers.
They come with with the male / female stack style bolts with a metal clip which I think is quite difficult to find. I went in to Leyland and a local shop and they didn't have anything like it, so that might be the clincher if they're not easy to source? Unless you can use those Gray Cricket helmet bolts?
Once I've bent this in to shape and out of my line of vision, I think it works really well. As I said ^, my only concern is that front on impact pushes the chin strap into the throat. I've put padding on mine which made it a bit better.
