Great ride - Joel! Brilliant way to raise money and bring a lot of fun to a lot of people. I hope you are recovering and not having flashbacks every time you see a BB.
Oliver Schick deserves a massive cheer for forfeiting the mass night ride so we could all have some soup. It was great to see his friendly face through the village hall serving hatch - as welcome as the soupburger. It is really brilliant that such a massive event is free - in money and in spirit - thanks to the work of people like Oliver and the Soup Lady who has been doing it for years and years. Big Society on wheels...
We rode with teenagers from our club (CC Hackney) and a very old lady - a pre-war Holdsworth Tandem. The tandem had a few mechanicals but managed to sort herself out with improvised tools (I bet somebody had a bottom bracket wrench, if only we had shouted loud enough) The kids kept going on an endless supply of Red Bull .
Next year I am going to take some savoury snacks and I never want to eat anything sweet ever again.
