  • Hi, I am looking for a pair of Berthet Pedals in BSC. If possible in NOS/NIB but open to see used (not a lot!) items.

  • Thx but I want something not bent. But thanks again !

  • Homophobe...

  • @TS : Ok I get it. I am french but thanks to URBAN DICTIONARY.

  • it is really too bad that one is bent as they are in fantastic condition. I have seen some NOS on ebay for around £60.

  • Could you give me the links, I can't find anything like this ...

  • I presume you're looking for Lyotard M23s. I have an un-bent pair that you could have for less than £60.
    Are you in London?

  • @fuitbat : I am in France but ok to pay the shipping. Do you have pictures ? Is it BSC thread ?

  • Yes they're BSC thread.
I don't have pictures, because i wasn't really planning on selling them. How desperate are you, they come up at bikejumbles all the time over here.
30 or 40 quid would probably get you a decent pair.
I can probably dig mine out of the cupboard this weekend and do some photos if you want.

  • Thanks! It is very difficult in France to find M23s Lyotard Berthet in BSC, that's why I m so desperate ...

  • these are the NOS ones on ebay for £60. just noticed they are french. there are a few on ebay right now too. recent completed auctions ended at £9 and £21 so you can get them cheap.
they are the only NOS pair i've seen recently.

  • Thx, but yes it's french ... unfortunately

  • Are you looking for them for steel, cottered cranks or cotterless?

As well as the different threadings, you also get them with different lengths of threaded section. I don't have NOS, but I do have a very good condition set, BSC, with the longer threaded section suitable for cotterless cranks. I'm not ovely keen to get rid of them, but my credit card would probably appreciate it!

I should be able to take a couple of photos later if this is the type you need?
Alternatively, Hilary Stone also has a set on his website...not bad condition £35+post.

I think his might be the type with shorter threaded section for steel cranks, but I might be wrong.

  • Put some pictures here...

They do have some light marks. Bearings seem pretty good, perhaps the tiniest bit of play in one pedal.

Last picture just shows what I mean about different lengths of thread. I need the set with the shorter threaded section for a cottered crankset.
If you use the longer ones on a steel cottered crank, they stick out the back, so might be possible to strike chain stays if close clearance??? I guess some pedal washers would work. All depends what you need!

Give me a shout if you are interested, if not, no trouble at all.

    Daniel

  • Hi Cheesedisease, The ones I need are : 9/16" x 20 for TA crank (I think it's steel crank).

  • Yes, these are BSC - 9/16 x 20 tpi. Both sets I have are.

It just depends if the cranks you have need have the long or short threaded section. See last link above. Sorry, if I've complicated things by adding this extra point in!

Is it TA Cyclotouriste cranks? I think it would be the long section ones you need, so these would be correct, but you'd need to get that confirmed for sure by someone!

  • It's Specialite Ta, the track one...

  • Well they are the correct BSC threading.

And they have around 9 - 10mm of threads, if you want to work out the length to fit your cranks. Try a pedal in them and see. Or maybe ask if someone else can confirm for you.

  • I tried with Campagnolo, from the side to the end of the thread I have 11mm. And 9 mm only for the thread.

  • .

  • just tried it on my TA cranks. it's the 9-10mm threads that fit flush with the crank arm.

  • Yes, I'd say these are what you need then! If the condition is good enough for you.

I'm looking for £50 + whatever a recorded postage service to France would be. I know that's not cheap, but it's exactly what I paid for them on the CTC forum some months back.

Feel free to take your time to decide if you want to keep looking for better or cheaper ones. I wasn't planning to sell them, so they'll be here waiting.

  • @Cheesedisease : What do you mean by : "tiniest bit of play in one pedal"

  • @Cheesedisease : What do you mean by : "tiniest bit of play in one pedal"

There's the very tiniest fore and aft movement of the pedal on the spindle if you pull on it if you know what I mean? Very minimal, and might be normal, I'm not sure how tightened down these should be. And you could regrease and adjust them. I've never used them so can't say how they ride. Although they spin freely in my hand.

    Sorry I can't be clearer!

EDIT > Probably doing myself out of a sale, but if it's ideally NOS perfection you're after, I'd say these aren't quite good enough. I'm fussy too, so don't want to sell something you might not be 100% happy with.
