it'll only take 2 mins to nick both pedals and straps

That's what I was thinking. Speedy bastards! Is there nothing I can put on the bolts to make them harder to undo? Glue or something?
-

no offence but those straps look really awful.
I've been riding with Hold Fasts on two of my bikes. I leave one of them parked outside work and other places and have not had them taken, but then I'm sure if I locked up in Bethnal Green they'd get taken in no time... But you can't lock them, just like you can't lock your forks (which I've had stolen) so sometimes you've just gotta take the risk... or get insurance.

You could, but they could just remove the pedals which are possibly of more value anyway... and what are you gonna do, superglue your entire bike together?

I remember in the early 90's growing up in Zimbabwe. One year we had a terrible food shortage and we had to import Polenta maize meal from Kenya as food aid. I remember it tasted like dust. These Biciband Polenta straps are conjuring up those same feelings of revulsion and despair. I wouldn't put my foot in them if Mugabe's ass was attached to the other end of them.

light yellow pedal straps will get filthy pretty quickly. Not particularly desirable then.

what the fuck?

bikestache?
There's no such thing as an economic downturn when people profit from bikestaches

Who would pay $8 for that! Jesus, the first world has outlived its affluence, bring on Chinese dominance.

+1
Desirable only because of the attractive colour. For bees and wasps.
By the way, I'm pretty sure there are folks with straps worth over £80 on their freestylers and polo bikes.

Shhh! Don't let the thieves know how much straps are worth to us

I need straps for the new build. I didn't know that a bit of an old seatbelt can fetch such high prices.
-
• #15
no-one would steal those straps. Not even me.

Get restraps - simples. Handmade in the North, you know they gonna be tough. More affordable than holdfasts, and your pennies are going to a sound bloke, that rides every day.

SPD's are the answer to this, because they don't work with the bike theives reebok classics.

Wow, 90 quid for straps, am I missing something?

that's not my experience of tokyo, but then I don't buy 'hip'. I've only bought actual parts for bikes, not excessories (sic).

This comment alone has made this thread worth starting. Absolutely brilliant.

Could you please show where?

Cover them in anti-theft paste... or dog shit as it's more commonly known.

Feed the dog five tins of anchovies to make it extra secure.
Has anyone ever had their pedal straps nicked?
I was thinking about getting some of these
http://mollettadesign.com/products-page/bicibands/biciband-polenta/
I've used straps before, but none quite as desirable as these! Is there anything I can do to make them less nick-able? I'm not planning on leaving the bike anywhere for much longer than 5 minutes at most, but those thieving pikey bastards work fast.
Shall I just get some bog standard ones and not take the risk?
