There was a guy in Oxford who had one stolen and returned, and I saw one locked outside the Sainsburys on Kingsway the other day at lunchtime, but that's the extent of my knowledge...

I think I mentioned it earlier in the thread - an ex-clubmate, Deirdre, has one of his audax frames in pillar box red. It's done the PBP :)

I had one, which was stolen from the guy in Oxford. Met someone on the Tweed ride who knew him apparently but can't remember her name. Was with my mate Tim Ward (Bristol), can't remember his forum name if he has one!!!

i have one. its an early 80's columbus frame, bought originally (by the chap i bought it from) from shorter rochford. it was little used and had full 8sp dura ace.
i posted on veloriders to find out some info and was told that he was a builder of some renown. just looked for the thread but its gone.
i rode the bike myself for a while, lovely ride. but sadly for the last 2yrs its been sat unassembled. i'm even wondering whether to sell it to fund a yeti arc-x cross bike. can't decide as it is a nice bike.
somewhere i have a piuccie, when i have 2 mins i'll try and post it.

Hilary Stone suggests the Townsend on here could've been built by Barry Chick.

My dad's mate has had a few built by him, I bought a red shorter off him which was built by Barry Chick a few years back but I cracked the frame:(
He also has a white Chick frame (with decals) which he won't sell me, especially after I converted the red one to fixed and then broke the frame.

Hi, I have a Barry Chick time trial frame with ultra short wheel base campag drilled ends in columbus tubing. It used to belong to a 'Steve Hunt' who rode for VC Slough and used the bike to break the Icknield RC junior 25 record. When my dad bought the frame for me it had been resprayed and labeled with SB Cycles (Luton) I have not ridden the bike in 20yrs and was never as fast as Steve but it is shod with 24 spoke CX18's, Dia Compe brakes a Sachs ~Hurret rear mech and Nadax BB all with weight in mind and it came in at around 10.5lbs without rider!!
I would consider selling as I am too old and now heavy for such a machine but it does stir the memories. -

If you've still got it may be interested.

....I am afraid you have done nothing good there.. Frame is the sex, build it up with pc gears.. Otherwise, if you insist on fixieing it.. Get rid of the effin' white bits.. Trust me, you'll see the error of your ways in a bit of time..

I've got one

Red road frame, serial number 1273. Fixed at the moment with mudguards as my winter/commuter bike. Some vague history known. Lugs and fork crown look very similar to the track frame on Hilary stone and the few pics on here so pretty sure it's a Chick and not just stickered up as one. It's moving to Australia with me in the spring...

I really like these bikes and i know that at least another person on the forum has one. Unfortunatelly there is not much info out there about barry chick, at least before he joined shorter bikes. He used to built bikes for alf engers in the 70's and continued up until the 90's when he built the hotta bikes.
who knows more about him I discovered three bikes so far two of them are in my possesion, there has got to be more out there.
my first one 77' time trial, especially the handle bars are quite unique. As far as i know most people were riding normal drop bars up unitl 84.

original bits: stronglight cranks with 57 ring, suntour suberbe rear mech and pedals, campa record brakes, weinman flat bar levers. Wheels are 24hole mavic gp4 laced to high flange campa record hubs (the originals got lost)
and my 79 track bike:

It has been resprayed and I am not sure which bits were on it originally, maybe the wheels which are campa record pista laced to golden mavic cr10 rims.
my 1981 Road built up as a superlight bike (sub 7.8 kg):
