This be true. I do.
Mine are OK, nothing more. Not had the bike long and not looked into why things feel a bit too wooly for my liking. Could be the cable and levers, rather than the calipers. Am looking to upgrade them, but as much aesthetics, as for better braking. Which after a few recommendations will probably MTRs.
