In addition to the info in the OG thread...
1) The seatpost was indeed well stuck. I got it moving but couldn't get it out so I chopped the top of the seatpost off with the intention of hacksawing it out a la Sheldon Brown. This is a far as I got with this.
2) The seat tube has two small cracks at the bottom of the slit that clamps the seatpost. This may have been caused or aggravated by me trying to free the post. They do not look terminal to me.
3) I've binned the old chain.
Collection is from N16.
I paid £60, I'll take £40.
