Popped out for a training ride on the Tandem, thought we'd check out the delights of Erith, didn't see the road narrowed (not gradually, the pavement just stuck out!), until the wheels were grinding along the edge of the pavement.
Cue me shouting 'ooohhh shhiiiiittttt!!!' - before my wife could ask, I was using my side as a brake while she used her face! Cue crying, lots of blood coming off her face and mouth while she managed to mumble she'd lost a tooth!
The ambulance turned up quite quick and a very nice man (in an oval window beetle) rang his son to pick up the bike and take it home, while we went to A&E... probably put off a few people off cycling for life, while we waited and even though they said her injuries were 'superficial' – I haven't felt so bad about anything in my life – I'm sure they'll be payback soon, once she's fully mended!
Thankfully she'd only chipped her tooth, but we went to a 24hr dentist to check it out, if only to put her mind at rest.
She says she wants to 'steer' next time!
This has made me feel quite sick. Good to hear you're both ok though.
