Blimey! Hope you are OK. And hope the cops take it seriously.

Good job. Well done for going bonkers: your best defence. Worth starting to talk to yourself loudly in a mad nutter way if ever you feel threatened.

Me, this evening (9.15), cycling along the canal beside Hackney Marshes, underneath the Mandeville st bridge here - http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=lea+bridge+road&hl=en&ll=51.557876,-0.038248&spn=0.003962,0.00927&num=100&safe=off&client=safari&t=h&z=17
I could see a couple of black youths, 14-16 years old, on the path ahead as I was cycling along. As I passed the big one, about 6'2" and 14-15 stone, (pretty distinctive to be that size, at that age, so hopefully the police will be aware of him) he stood in front of me and pulled me onto the floor, swearing, and trying to take my bike off me. I pulled the bike back, got up, and went into attack mode, shouting and fucking swearing at the fucking cunting fuck. At this point he seemed to realise that this was going to be more effort than he thought, backed off, then went away over the bridge into the Kingsmead.
Reported it to the police.
Cunts.
That's exactly where I got rolled in May last year. Police were fucking useless too - the controller at the phone centre refused to send someone out until I told her what road I was on, which was helpful as I was not actually on a road. Then she sent the cops to a road about 500 metres away.
The stretch of path there is ideal for ambushing people as it's the only area for a long way in either direction where you can hide in the bushes directly by the path. Elsewhere there is fencing. Then there is the easy escape route into the estate via the little footbridge. There appeared to be a spotter on the bridge when I was jumped.

^ you should tell this to the police. Even if it's just a local CSO.

No. They work a lot on rumors and tip-offs.

That sucks.
Speaking to a police officer on the marshes today, who was patrolling on one of those 4x4 buggy type things, there's been an increase in incidents in the area recently, and they've upped the number of patrols. So I suppose they're making a bit of an effort.
