  • guys, thanks for the sympathy re: Batavus and the offer of an eye out. funny you should mention it, a very real nausea has hung with me since monday. the saddle (black with red) was the same.
combing gumtree and scrambling to line something up for the Dun Run on saturday.
    ouchie.

  • Haha.
Im the other guy who had his brooks stolen(thats the rio for you).
Mine was a pretty worn B17 brown saddle.
Also gimme a shout if seen.
    Thanks

  • Usual advice.

Get down to bricklane market sunday morning.
Enjoy some breakfast beigels and get hunting.
Hopefully you'll see your saddle, or else some other unlucky persons.

    Good luck

  • Hello chaps,

My very good friend has tragically had his beutiful deep blue 80's Fuji Berkley stolen from the hallway of his Hackney home. Classic story of a neighbour coming home and leaving the front door unlocked. The bike has been with him since it was new and has travelled many countries and continents.

It looks very much like this. There's nothing out of the ordinary or notable about it. It's almost entirely original but has no handlebar tape. It's not valuable, just loved.

Anyway, we're doing the usual brick lane/gumtree check, but on the off chance that anyone spots it elsewhere do let me know.

    Thanks guys.

  • in Bethnal Green. Between last night and this afternoon. Single speed.
Italian chrome frame of unknown brand 60cm. 3T stem and handlebars (black). Cinelli bar tape black (different to pic). Modolo brakes and brake levers. San Marco rolls saddle black. No name wheels. Schwalbe tyres. Not top notch but self built from scratch, so I am making this personal!
Have reported. See attached pic. Will try and find better one. In the off chance that anyone comes across it please let me know!

  • orinbristow - PM'd you - give me a call.

  • I've always been curious: what happens when you find your saddle? Do you just say "hey gimme back my saddle" or do you have to call the police there?

  • Hi guys,
Am new to the forum, but this looks like just the place that could help me out.
My bike was stolen on Saturday 16 July outside Virgin Active Islington (City Road) between 11 - 12:30pm.
A little more information - old white Peugeot racer (plenty of chips in paintwork), fixed gear, Origin-8 rear wheel hub (white), white deep-V rim on rear wheel, slightly wonky Weinmann front brakes, no rear brakes, chrome drop-down handlebars (no tape), loose brake lever on right hand side of handlebars. I will try and attain photograph(s) from the guy who sold it to.
I have only owned the bike since April this year, it was a 21st birthday present, but in that short time I became very attached to it.
If more information would be useful please let me know, or hints and tips into personal investigative techniques for finding stolen bikes.
Grateful for any response. Thank you for reading.

  • Sorry to hear Tocman.
About two years ago I chased a bike thief that was undoing my handlebars and stem outside there, he got away...but at least no parts were stolen. Have a mate who used to work in that gym and he reckons that bikes are stolen daily from outside there and that thefts increase during the school holidays.

Another friend of mine got one up on a thief a few months ago. A colleague and himself were driving through Archway when they saw a young lady shouting at a 'youth' riding a bicycle, they asked if she was ok and she said that the thug had just snatched her bike. They gave chase and managed to somehow get ahead, my friend then managed to pull him of the bike. The thief made as if he was carrying a knife so my friend hesitated and the thief ran, leaving the bike. My friend gave chase on foot and managed to tug on his hoodie and at that point the thug managed to shrug out of his hoodie and run off. My mate was left with his hoodie and one of those undersized shoe bags with string staps. He thought that he probably was going to find a treasure trove of green leaves, only to find that the bag had a bed sheet and an mp3 player adapter.

  • mmm, popular weekend for it. my brown brooks (chopped pro) with 'no pasaran' embossed on it. pinched from under 199 bishopsgate...

The thing that pisses me off most is that they took the top part of my dura ace seat post and left the rest!

  • Hi,
Condor Uno carbon seatpost and newish black Fizik Pave saddle stolen from my otherwise well secured Harry Hall outside the Londesborough Pub between 10-11pm last night. I know it's not the same league as a whole stolen bike but if anyone comes accross them i would be glad to know.
    Thanks

  • Police came around yesterday and went up and down my road asking if anyone saw anyone on sunday night steeling two bikes from the back garden of a neighbor opposite. Nice to see the police actually trying to investigate. And the copper was pretty fit too.

I hate it when bikes/things are stolen.

  • have my day ruined as my super blue Faggin got stolen out of a coded bike storage room from inside a property last night in bethnal green. it differed from the pictures only by a cinelli seat post, black powder coated sram omnium crank set and fizik arione saddle. this is a one off bike and there is no other frame in london like it. if you see it, please try get hold of it, lock it or what ever and call me:

  • ^fucking hell. gutted for your loss. distinctive as anything though, will keep my eyes peeled. you can have my giant (58cm I think) to hack around on if you want, the bb will drive you mad though.

  • shit reeen, sorry to hear this man, very recognisable.

  • Nooooooooo! That is horrible Reeeeeen. Best bike ever.

  • the cropped through an 18mm diameter but shit weak bike holder frame work and slit the lock out.
it was the first knight i put it there as i stay with a friend since my house woes.

i am indescribably down. i lived on that thing!

  • i lost my room to no fault of my own last weekend and rely on friends, now my steed is gone as well.

i'm so close to the edge right now, it wouldn't take much for me to completely loose it.

  • On the plus side, everyone around here recognises it and it's not like they're flooding the streets so it should be back with you soon dude. Will make sure to look out for it.

  • Nooooooooo!
fuck! reeeen, eyes massively peeled dude.

  • Everyone knows that bike. It can't go too far.

  • Maybe worth posting a pic.
Then those who don't know it can keep an eye out.
