I thought that most people who do charity rides see at as the exception rather than the norm. The few people I know who do them maybe ride 2 or 3 events a year and do very little riding in between and never as long a distance.
Not sure what you mean about the message. What message do you want charity rides to send?
That's what I mean. Put cycling up there with one off fundraising activities like bungee jumping, tandem skydive, or holiday trekking the himalayas then it does jack all to promote utility (everyday) cycling.
