That is awesome ^^
Are all these routes just assumptions or from the actual route sheets?

It's based on the 2011 route sheet (and past experiences of doing the ride). This year's route is rather similar to last year's since the food stop is in the same village as last year.
Note the possible short cut that cuts out Finchingfield. Could be fun if you want to give friends a fright by appearing ahead of them up the road.

Great, I don't want to take the short cut though! So how come you've got the route sheets already, I was under the impression you couldn't get hold of them until the day.

Omgzz snow at Dunwich!
Hmm, now about this plan to go swimming at the end ... :)

I'm sure Jack meant the 2010 route sheet.

What shortcut? Do you mean through the hills south of Finchingfield? As far as I'm aware, the road the DD takes is the quickest and flattest way through that area.

PM the shortcut to me please, anybody, thanks

Oliver read JackT latest post, it appears that the route has already been made available though them for gps.

Ah, sorry, I missed that post while I was writing mine.

i'm a little worried about the fuel stop - will they have enough for the horde of zombie cyclists heading toward the sea?

No. 2011. A copy must have fallen out of Patrick's saddlebag.

They will probably have enough, the question is do you want to wait in a queue for half an hour plus to get to it? In my experience of the past three years, it's best to be self sufficient food-wise and just make use the shelter of the village hall.

I've taken this attitude as well. Rather than queue up I'll take my own food, sandwich and a scotch egg. Job done.
Ideally I'd love to have beans in a thermos flask but they won't keep warm for that long.

Mine have always stayed hot right to the beach...even with me eating half of them at the food stop.

Really? Bare in mind I'll be on a 3pm train to London though so that's like 9 hours till the first stop.

I shall be on this

With a fuck off light on the front.
I hope to set off late and come along in a sweeper type fashion, so will bring some spare tubes and puncture repair stuff.
Am hoping it will be a dry night so I can wear the hideous disco slippers, I think the pearlescent silver will be blinding from afar.
Very pleased to have the Rapha Brevet jersey for the ride, so will be flourescent pink.
Can't wait though if it's set to piss down I may just sit at home instead, I hate starting in the rain - bad for arthritic knee.
Would have liked to do it fixed but its less than 3 months since surgery on my leg so may need to freewheel occasionally.
With the lighting I have on the bike I am willing to do a lead out for a pack of people, would be aiming for 18-20mph rolling flatland pootle (or whatever is not going to push my heart rate too high).

Given the weather forecast y'all might want to consider mudguards. At least for the rear wheel, unless you're happy riding alone or at the back of a group.

• #1449
Well, that list of reserves doesn't look to be getting much shorter... Really want to go now my other half is going to be working all night. Humbug

i got a call from the ship at dunwich today also confirming they are opening for breakfast however it's from 7am not 6am, and a full english will be £12.50. drinks likely. they can seat 100 people as well they said (not sure if that's all at once but hopefully it is)
I keep meaning to put a mudflap on my rear mudguard. Maybe now's the time.
