Facin' & Chasin'. Can anyone help?

  • I've just finished building a frame in my garden and am in need of someone, either privately or a recommended LBS, to face and chase my BB, HT and ST.

    Can anyone help?

  • Might help a bit if you mentioned your location...

  • Sorry Ed. I'm North London - N16

  • Does Hackney Bike Workshop have the kit for that?

  • maybe sargent and co or push as they are closest.

  • I had no idea these services would be so expensive!

Two Wheels Good and another LBS (whose name escapes me now) are wanting £60 for the job. That's more than a third of what it cost me to build the frame!

I hope I can find somewhere cheaper!

  • Does Hackney Bike Workshop have the kit for that?

I checked, they don't - however they have informed me that it's not necessary afer a respray.

  • I'm pretty sure brick lane bikes did BB and headset for something like £20

  • I wish it were that easy! I've built this frame from scratch at home and need the threads cleaning up after manufacture. I did think about trying to build something from an old BB but I really need a proper tap on this occasion.

Brick lane bikes would charge £60 for the three services, just like 2WheelsGood. Seems like this might be pretty standard...

  • Doesn't Colnago Costa have the tools?

  • I don't want to open a can of worms, but I wouldn't trust blb with a job like that.

    How about super ted?

and post a pic! making your own frame sounds awesome - congrats!

  • My friend got his ST reamed at lock 7 in exchange for a spliff.

  • International currency of bicycle mechanics!

  • Kyle doesn't work there any more so I doubt it would fly.

  • seems pretty standard for London prices, have you seen the price of the tools to do these jobs? Scary.

  • i got quoted £160 by evans for this yesterday. Lol.

Tokyo Fixed did it for forty quid...

  • Proper tools and skills required for that job!

  • can do all that for you for 40 quid.....what size is the headtube??? what threading is BB shell, what size is seattube, also need a seatpost you are planning on using as every brand varies slighly in diameter so one seatpost may sit fine others may slip/be too tight

  • I checked, they don't - however they have informed me that it's not necessary afer a respray.

    ??????
