  • I was driving, overtook skoots twirling his fucking steampunk moustache, on Denmark hill on Saturday. Twirling it like that spiv off of carry on films and shit. Twirling. Fucking twirling.

  • Was that a teenslain heading north out of brixton this morning at about 10.45, as I was leaving Lambeth Accord? Off to polo?

100% yes... And yes... I love polo...

  • Twas me and 6pt :-)

    I was wearing the forum jersey and came out with;

    "DAS"
    "Oh, erm, hang on then..."

Haha, circling with toe overlap is never fun! Good to see you Sherbert!

Spotted on Thursday LFGSS jersey outside the Slaughtered Lamb, Great Sutton St, I DAS's you, you obliged, I drank my pint, all is good in the world...

  • ... circling with toe overlap is never fun! ...

fun? this is what's holding you back mate. the difference between winning and losing is sometimes in how much you are prepared to suffer. and how much you spend in halfords

  • ~~ Yellow ~~ Purple is not a colour, its a state of mind...

    Fucking Boardman.

It did look a little clumsy, which I liked...

  • Spotted an LFGSS jersey on Embankment this morning. I think it was Jaygee with VeeVee just ahead.

  • Yup. That was us. Sorry I couldn't oblige the DAS. We were trying to negotiate the corner, while avoiding a kamikaze cyclist.

  • Somebody on a white frame with black forks, trackstanding at the junction of Loughborough Road and Brixton Road.

  • Nice roll in with BRM this morning... Lovely bit a Taxi baiting as well... All in a beep, beep hurry to overtake us in the bus lane only to grind to a halt in traffic 200 metres down the road,

great way to start the day

  • Yup. That was us. Sorry I couldn't oblige the DAS. We were trying to negotiate the corner, while avoiding a kamikaze cyclist.

No worries. I was impressed enough with the maniacal grin I got after the request anyway.

  • Grupetto, y u no remember me?!

Spotted them @LMNH - Hello Tika and Spagg.

    Ah that was you?
We were trying to work out who it was. Spag reckoned it might have been you, "he said he was building some sort of Ti Scoble bike".
    Sorry.

I saw Day-Moe, resplendent in his Grumpetto kit, riding through Brixton this morning on his way to do a few reps of Swains Lane.

We spoke briefly but then I had to head off on a quick run down to Dover.

Clive it was ace seeing you. Swain's was not nice. I am out of shape.

  • We had a really pleasant run down to Dover as a reccy for the first day of our London to Monte Carlo. A really good route with only a couple of challenging hills which is ideal for the first day of a nine day ride. One of those rides where you feel you are descending more than climbing. Got the high speed train back from Dover. Just over an hour to St Pancras. A good day out and only one puncture between five of us.

  • One of those rides where you feel you are descending more than climbing.

    My kind of route!

  • London to Monte Carlo?
    Get you!

  • I think that it works on a psycological level. In a ride that starts and finishes at the same height above sea level, you will climb and descend the same height but be climbing longer as you descend quicker. There are times when you don't notice steady climbs and suddenly find yourself quite high with a decent descent to follow. A spirit of optimism helps. There are other rides where the memory of the descent is quickly erradicated by the horror of the climbs.

  • London to Monte Carlo?
    Get you!

Leaving on 3 September. 9 days. 940 miles. 46,000 feet of climbing including a detour up Alpe d'Huez.

Last day is only 70 miles. First 60 are down hill, a climb for 5 miles, lunch and then 5 miles into Monaco itself. I am looking forward to that.

  • Are you taking clients with you or are you meeting clients at the end?

  • Cycling down with 15 others from the Lloyd's of London Cycling Club (hence the delightful kit yesterday). Arrive in time for the Rendez Vous de Septembre, gathering of the great and good of the world's reinsurance industry. Have around 50 appointments scheduled for the three days after arrival.

  • Clive, do you work in the Lloyd's building then?? Jealous!

  • No, I am an interloper. I work very close though.

  • I saw you, Clive, last week sometime as you were heading onto Pitfield St...you were very intent on the peculiar left-footed trackstand that you were performing so I didn't want to distract you by shouting!

Also you were wearing one of those LFGSS jerseys and since I think they may be THE most hideous bit of clothing I've ever seen I didn't want to get too close :)

Oh and I saw Jonny yesterday on my first excursion back on the bike. Happy days.

  • I can only trackstand left footed which is a great failing. The realisation, in my 50s, that I am left footed comes too late for a footballing career.

I have explained to my taste-conscious wife and daughters that the LFGSS jersey is ironic in its hideousness and therefore quite appealing. Their reaction mirrors your.

  • my first excursion back on the bike. Happy days.

    That was quick!!!
Be careful, the metal work may not be imbedded yet.
Good to hear your healing up

  • Someone locking up a silver Cinelli Mash/Vigorelli with black 3-spoke front wheel outside Rough Trade East earlier this afternoon.
You took the space I'd just vacated.
