  • Ouch.

  • Looks like the first lfgss oxford ride

Except they're not riding track bikes.

  • And Slag rode on.

  • They're saying it's Zabriskie down on ITV, but Twitter says Millar.

  • in other news, the breakaway is split up already. they're not gonna stay ahead if they all get separated.

    vino quitting this TdF?

  • Vino, Jorgen Vandenbroeck and Zabriskie look like they are out.

  • Except they're not riding track bikes.

And fishtailing all over the road.

The aftermath looked the same though.

  • "Someone who’s grown up on the Isle of Man can’t have been steeped in cycling."

Cipollini having a pop at one of our most highly regarded members. Nancy will show him.

    Yeah, Cipo.

  • They're saying it's Zabriskie down on ITV, but Twitter says Millar.

    sky says miller

  • Right before the ad break they said Millar is being reported as down as well. Might be both.

  • apparently its all contador's fault. what a terrible man.

  • Bloody tour de carnage
    Record fails today

  • Good riddance to Vino.

    No yellow for you!

  • haven't spotted evans on the screen for a bit?

  • He's lurking.

  • Unless you mean the popular chain of bike shops.

  • Just nipping out for a few mins to don the brown jersey.

  • I really like this stage--great landscape, very picturesque roads that look a bit like those in the Ardennes (and I suspect may cause some difficulties for standard TdF riding style, being narrow and curvy?), and it seems to be another example of this trend of including in Grand Tours 'mini-versions' of other iconic races, like the Strade Bianche stage in last year's Giro.

  • I could be wrong, but my understanding is that there is a gentleman's agreement to take turns riding at the front of the breakaway? Is there an unofficial way of punishing a rider who keeps at the back and letting others take the wind resistance? Does it happen?

  • Yes, lots of ways, but mainly the technique is to drift off the back with them behind you then, leaving them to close the gap back to the breakaway.

  • OK, I guess that is what we see quite often when the breakaway, er, breaks up?
