Unofficial "Gas Hill Blast" followed by drinks at the Red Lion over the road?

I would do it on my Thorn. Granny ring and spinning for the winning.

Or drinks followed by unofficial Gas Hill Blast...

I once ran up Gas Hill after a night drinking at the Red Lion (lived at the top of Ketts at the time). Threw up profusely when I hit the top. Not pleasant.

I've run up Gas Hill twice in a row. Fucked my legs for a week. I reckon 50-60" fixed is the best way up it.

BC rules don't allowed fixed gear bicycles. There goes my masterplan, back to not entering then.

You could just do it on a single-speed, wouldn't it be basically the same in terms of weight? Or is there some other practical reason you wanted to use a fixie?

As i said. Unofficial Gas Hill Gulp.

My road bike weighs less than my fixed anyway, the advantage is the mystical flywheel effect carrying you through the dead spots. Losing momentum is what'll kill any speed you have left when you hit the 20% climb near the top.
I'm into the Gulp though, will be interesting to see if I can get up there on fixed with my regular gearing after a few beers.

Mark only does fixed, gears are for girlies (that said, I ride gears, lots of them!)

I'd try a fixie one day but I'm afraid it might turn me straight.

Anyone go? Any good?!

Yeah. People hammered up it. You could spot the strong riders by the ones that did it more than once with the same commitment.
Should get some tee's made 'Fixie riders have feelings too' (or similar) and go and gate crash.
