I've got some 1960s Stronglight 49D 165mm cranks that are marked "9/16-20", which I suppose must mean they are threaded for standard 9/16" x 20tpi pedals, but when I've tried screwing in the pedal (which is 9/16" x 20tpi threaded), it goes in but it seems VERY stiff, almost like the threading is mismatched. The threads look clean and I've greased the pedal threads but I'm worried I might be doing some damage.
Any ideas? Is it possible to check the crank threads? Is this simply because they're old cranks?
Bump...
