Sorry but that's gash, I've had a shim fitted to a 1" fork for ages and never had it slip. I'm a 100kg and pull pretty hard on the bars.

ok really need this now, shim is prefferable, but anythin will do, just not super long.

Just bought a shim from Tredz, cheapest I could possibly find. Haven't fitted it yet but see no reason why it isn't a suitable good option. £1.79 w/free postage.

maybe benjam got confused? I have a thomson shim for my 1&1/8" stem on 1" steerer, nothing wrong with that.

I think I have exactly what you want....
need a 1" ahead stem
as short as possible.
