Nearly went under a van the other day as he decided to turn in front of me.
Just rained, recently laid tarmac, gatorskins, 20ish mph and aztec brake pads didn't help either.
I just swore lots but the oh sit was the woman on the pavement who was speechless and thought I was going to die. The scratches and torn bar tape have scuppered my plans to sell the bike for a decent price...oh shit -

35mph desent down a country lane at the weekend, thick trees either side. A couple appeared from nowhere on the other side of the road walking their basset hound. they then crossed to my side of the road and on into the woods. The basset hound though had taken an interest in the tarmac and wouldn't budge. The owner just managed to yank it into the wood before I had a chance to practice my bunney hop....

srsly? you were riding with a carrier bag on your bars? Maybe you should be spending less money on jeans and more on a bag or panniers

Had a pretty big one this afternoon. Just coming to the end of my ride, decided to put the power down coming back into town, came up on some slower traffic round a bend. Went to pull a skid, left foot pops out of the pedal, do a massive wobble nearly going down into oncoming traffic, and finally manage to save it sitting on the top tube with right foot still spinning around on the pedals, left leg out at 45 degrees. Still had a fair bit of speed going so I coasted into my road and all the way to my drive in the same position.
Maybe I need some new cleats!
Tough brake.

I was riding my shitty 20" folding bike (with 3 speed sturmey archer hub) towards the train station and as I pulled onto the track to get there i saw a couple of people walking along, so I slowed down until they noticed me and then put the power down to go around them and as I did the hub disengaged and threw me into the metal railing beside the train track and then I decided my knees were the perfect thing to stop me. Cue me limping home to patch up both my knees, one deep hole in my thigh and a bruised ego before heading (much slower!) for a later train.

So I took the tight, 90 degree, right hander on to the mixed cyclepath/pedestrian path near where I live, only to see this old lady on the right side of the path with her back to me. What I didn't see straight away was her little terrier-type dog on the left side of the path, taking a dump. 'No worries,' I thought in the split second I had to make a decision, '...there's plenty of room to pass between them'. Cue the 'Oh, SHIT!' moment when I spot that the old lady and the mutt were connected by one of those fuckin' extendable dog leads.....
Managed to pull up in time which makes the end of the story slightly less interesting/exciting, but coulda been really messy. Lesson learned.

Could have been interesting. Rat on a lead, mid shit dragged along by a clever dick cyclist.

Popped out for a training ride on the Tandem, thought we'd check out the delights of Erith, didn't see the road narrowed (not gradually, the pavement just stuck out!), until the wheels were grinding along the edge of the pavement.
Cue me shouting 'ooohhh shhiiiiittttt!!!' - before my wife could ask, I was using my side as a brake while she used her face! Cue crying, lots of blood coming off her face and mouth while she managed to mumble she'd lost a tooth!
The ambulance turned up quite quick and a very nice man (in an oval window beetle) rang his son to pick up the bike and take it home, while we went to A&E... probably put off a few people off cycling for life, while we waited and even though they said her injuries were 'superficial' – I haven't felt so bad about anything in my life – I'm sure they'll be payback soon, once she's fully mended!
Thankfully she'd only chipped her tooth, but we went to a 24hr dentist to check it out, if only to put her mind at rest.
She says she wants to 'steer' next time!

Yesterday, i had a massively shit day of cycling... One of my cleat bolts came loose, which meant that my left foot was completely unable to get out of the pedal. This made me fal off twice, once in the middle of the road turning right aswell... The other thing was a fucking white van man pulling out on me, looking me in the face whilst doing so and laughing, meaning i had to swerve into oncoming traffic, not cool. I was too pissed off from earlier incidents to try and get his no plate, so just gave him the finger and went on my way.

This has made me feel quite sick. Good to hear you're both ok though.
